MC man who allegedly suffocated dog pleads guilty to animal neglect

MASON CITY – A man who police said put a plastic bag over his dog’s head to suffocate it because he didn’t want to pay a fee to have it euthanized has pleaded guilty to animal neglect.

Peter Joseph Olson, age 36, stood accused of placing a plastic bag over a 5-year-old Sharpei’s head with the intent to asphyxiate it because he did not want to pay a vet to euthanize the animal, police had told NIT. Olson then allegedly discarded the dead pet in a nearby dumpster. Records show the incident took place on March 19, 2014.

Olson pled guilty to one count of animal neglect on May 13, 2014. Judge Rolf Aronsen assessed Olson $735.00 in fines and court fees for his actions. He was allowed a payment plan by the court.

The dog was obviously not his pet. I love my pets. You can’t be in your right mind to murder something you love!

Who else has this guy murdered? Is this his first kill?

How do we know the circumstance. I know a guy who loved his dog and he got run over by a train. The hunter knew his beloved dog couldn’t be saved and so shot him in the head to put him out of his misery and cried for days.

Pets are property, kind of like wives used to be for most of history.

Its not exactly a secret that pets are EXPENSIVE. Their expensive to get, feed, vet work, tennis balls here or there…even in death that costs money. If you aren’t prepared for the long term expense of animals don’t get one. If you have one and can’t care for it there’s a number of shelters that would take in or help direct you to a solution.

Dudes a creep! He deserves whatever he has coming.

You know that when I originally read about this clown I was infuriated. How could anyone do this? Although I have known people in the country that shot their dogs when it was time to put them out of their misery. Then I had a friend a few weeks ago that told me it cost them 180 bucks to put their cat down plus cremation fees at Cornicks(Pioneer) and that seems very high to me. In any case, I couldn’t do what this fellar did and almost feel sorry for him now.

Unanswered questions remain: Was this animal suffering from a longstanding disease? Was it very old and feeble? Or was this animal just a pet this guy no longer wanted to feed and care for? These make a big difference in my opinion as to the legality of charging him, but do not in any way mitigate the fact that he murdered the animal…sick or not. I’m of the belief that old age nor illness are not justification to take a life. Let natural causes take their course.

Animal neglect? Morbidly humorous the terminology they cop themselves out with. Try Animal Murder.

Isn’t this the same judge who basically let Stricker off hundreds of times for Neglecting his Horses for many years? This judge must not like Animals.
Another one goes free!
