MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Brilee McWilliams has signed a national letter of intent to compete in track and field at Minot State University, a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
McWilliams (Prairie City) is the eighth signing by the Beavers this signing period for coach Stu Melby and will join the throwers at Minot State, a NCAA Division II school located in Minot, N.D.
At NIACC, McWilliams recorded a personal best throws of 38 feet, 10.5 inches in the weight throw and 114-8 in the discus.
“Brilee is very raw,” Melby said in a Minot State press release. “Her weight throw and hammer are new events for her.
“We think she has a lot of upside to her potential especially when we get her into our lifting program and technique work. She has a good head on her shoulders and she will be a nice addition to our team and add depth to our throws crew.”
McWilliams participated in volleyball, softball, basketball and track and field throughout her prep career at Prairie City-Monroe.
