Rockwell man sentenced to five years in prison

MASON CITY – A Rockwell man was sentenced to five years in prison this week in connection with a stolen snowmobile and subsequent eluding of police.

On Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at approximately 2:50 AM, Mason City police officers pursued a stolen snowmobile throughout the streets of Mason City. The driver, Marlin Lee Jensen, age 52 of Rockwell, Iowa was apprehended and arrested in the 600 block of S. Massachusetts and the snowmobile was recovered. The snowmobile had been stolen on December 14th 2013, in Clay County near Spencer, Iowa.  Another snowmobiler who was with Jensen escaped.

Jensen was sentenced after a plea deal to five years in prison for two charges of felony theft in the second degree and 1 year in prison for eluding, to be served concurrently. He was assessed $2,385.21 in fines and court costs.

Jensen has appealed his sentence and has been released on bond.
