NIACC’s Don signs with Cameron University

MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Matthew Don has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball next season at Cameron University, an NCAA Division II school located in Lawton, Okla.

Don, a 6-foot-8 post from London, England, averaged 11.7 points per game and led the ICCAC with 9.0 rebounds per game.

“Matt had a terrific 2 years at NIACC,” NIACC coach Mark Mohl said. “He has been one of the leading rebounders and shot blockers in our league the last 2 years.

“He has a very versatile offensive game in that he can step out and shoot the 3 but also has good post moves. He has had two terrific years at NIACC as a student, person, and player.”

Cameron University was 11-15 overall and 5-9 in the Lone Star Conference in the 2013-14 season under coach Nate Gamet.

“He will fit in well at Cameron and be an outstanding addition to their program,” Mohl said. “They are an outstanding D2 school in a very tough league.”

Points – 28 vs. Snead State (Alabama) (11-1-13).
Rebounds – 15, three times.
Assists – 4 vs. Kirkwood (3-4-14).
Steals – 3 vs. NDSCS (12-8-13).

Notes: Don scored 622 career points with 468 career rebounds … Don had 16 career double-doubles.
