Elderly Minnesota man sentenced for escaping from Duluth prison

MINNEAPOLIS – Last week in federal court, a 67-year-old Bloomington man was sentenced for escaping from a Federal Prison Camp in Duluth. United States District Court Judge Patrick J. Schiltz sentenced Gerald James Greenfield to an additional 18 months in federal prison.

Greenfield was serving a 50-month sentence for conspiracy to commit money laundering when he escaped from the prison facility in Duluth on March 30. The defendant was arrested on April 5 at a hotel in Burnsville.

This case was the result of an investigation by the United States Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Manda M. Sertich.
