Mason City man sent to prison for theft

MASON CITY – A Mason City man has been sent to prison for several theft incidents.

Ronald Bakkum, age 46, pled guilty on April 28 to two counts of theft in the third degree. Bakkum was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $1,250 and assessed $228.70 in costs.

Bakkum – already a convicted felon – also pled guilty to theft in the second degree and was sentenced to five years in prison, fined $750 and required to pay $500.oo in restitution, as well as $288.70 in costs.

He has been sent to the the Iowa Medical and Classification Center for processing. Records show he could be released in January of 2018.
