MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Brett Guba signed a national letter of intent with Elon University on Monday.
Guba is hitting .335 with 16 doubles and 21 RBIs heading into the NJCAA Region XI tournament, which starts Thursday in Waterloo.
Guba has 94 career hits and 25 career doubles, which is tied for 10th on NIACC’s all-time career list.
Guba has a career batting average of .348 (94 of 270). He hit .365 with nine doubles and 20 RBIs during his freshman season when the Trojans placed fifth at the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Elon University, which is a NCAA Division I school located in Elon, N.C., is 26-21 overall and 12-12 in the Southern Conference.
Former NIACC standout Lucas Bakker is 6-2 with a 3.09 earned run average for Elon this spring.
