NIACC’s Humphries to play in NJCAA all-American game in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – NIACC sophomore David Humphries has been selected to play in the NJCAA Men’s Basketball Coaches Association all-American all-star game on May 10.

Humphries, a two-time all-American, is one of three ICCAC players on the NJCAA Division II/III roster. Others league players on Humphries’ team are Iowa Lakes’ Deondre Parks and DMACC’s Brandon Nazione.

“We are very proud of everything Dave has accomplished in the classroom, off the court, and on the court,” NIACC coach Mark Mohl said. “This is a tremendous honor and a very well-deserved honor. We know he will represent NIACC in a tremendous manner.”

The game which pits NJCAA Division I players against NJCAA Division II/III players will be played at the Orleans Arena. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. on May 10.

Humphries was selected to the NJCAA Division II third-team all-American team in the 2013-14 season after being a first-team selection as a freshman. Parks was a first-team all-American this season and Nazione was a second-team all-American.

Humphries averaged 21.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game to lead NIACC, which was 21-12. He also had 96 assists and 60 steals.

Humphries scored 1,190 career points (3rd on school’s all-time list) with 460 rebounds (12th on school’s career list), 216 assists (11th on school’s all-time list) and 132 3-point goals (5th on school’s all-time list).
