Man who joined his wife in running from cops now faces drug charges

MASON CITY – New drug charges were added Sunday for a man in the Cerro Gordo County Jail who, along with his wife, tried to run from cops on April 22.

Jailers at the Cerro Gordo County Jail said that Allen Keith Hamilton brought drugs and drug paraphernalia with him to the jail when he was arrested on April 22. The items were in his property that was brought with him to the jail, they said.  They added charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia to the list of charges he is being held on at this time.

Hamilton was wanted on warrants related to violation of pre-trial release on a forgery charge, second degree burglary, unauthorized use of a credit card and identity theft; violation of pre-trial release related to another forgery charge and fourth degree theft; failure to appear in court on a third degree theft charge, and new charges of trespassing and third degree burglary when police caught him and his wife running from 515 9th Street NW.

Additionally, Allen’s wife, Tabatha Hamilton, was charged with assault on Friday as she remains incarcerated. Jailers took a report of an altercation in the jail Friday evening.
