Gabe Haugland added to Iowa GOP Central Committee

CLEAR LAKE – The Iowa Republican party named 16 new members to its central committee Saturday at its four district convention locations.

Gabe Haugland of Clear Lake, a former attorney and now a trust officer at First Citizens Bank in Mason City, was elected at the fourth district convention in Storm Lake.  Haugland is known to be an aspiring right wing politician who opposes same sex marriage and is anti-abortion.

Haugland is also chairman of the Cerro Gordo County Republican Party.

Matt,…now that’s some funny shit bro. Touche.

This article is ludicrous. Gabe is a personal friend. He is a great guy with a greater heart. He served this country and his interests lie in making a difference for good. What would you expect from him regarding the city races? It was the incumbents vs the looney toons.

Good thing you don’t allow personal attacks on this site! Oh wait…

@Matt-WoW, well said.

Haugland opposes same sex marriage and abortion. This is a good character sign of a good moral compass. He gets an A+++

Haugland was lashing out via social media at Mason City citizens who were on the ballot for city office, calling them “anti-job” He gets a F- for this as he was very successful at getting our anti job Mayor Bookmeyer elected.

Haugland is known to be an aspiring right wing politician. ??? Attorneys are known for their left wing radical politics. He is a closet…

Democrat, the sneaky devil!

@Par-Booky is a leech on society that has found A way to make a living without having to work for it. He married a woman who has a good career and got a job in government. Philly tried the same thing but he couldn’t find a woman other than one strung out on drugs and then no one would vote for him. What a waste of space and good air they both are.

Opposing civil rights is a “good moral compass”

This is what’s wrong with this country. People believing wrong is somehow right.

Right on! People have got to start supporting the conservative candidates and quit voting in Democrats who continue believing wrong is somehow right. The Democrats have been in control long enough and have this country in peril with their anti middle class policies. The Democrats don’t know what a moral compass is!

The writer included “anti-abortion” and yes “same-sex marriage” in the story in the second paragraph so, yes, the story DOES have something to do with abortion. The writer made it so. Maybe the writer of the story has issues. too? Paranoid about bankers much? How about veterans? Attorneys? Christians? Republicans got you spooked? Oohh, the boogey man Steve King? You know last time I checked this is America. We can disagree like grown-ups can’t we? On the issues not personal attacks? Try it!

Way to show people how to get trolled.

I thought personal attacks were not allowed? Because that looked A LOT like a personal attack.

That’s because when we put our real name we get banned and attacked by the editor of this page…

Talk about TROLLs-Posting under the anonymous name tells it all. Are you so stupid as to think that would really stop you from being banned if he wanted to. Give him a reason and you will find out TROLL.

@Matt-That is my view on politics and politicians too. That is why I am also an Independent and I don’t have to vote on someone else’s bad idea’s just because they belong to a party. I vote for the person who I think will do the best job. That damn sure wasn’t drunkmayor.

Matt I enjoyed reading your comment up top. It shows you understand the chain of causation that leads to the breakdown of our society. Everything affects everything else. This is what I’m trying to get hardhats like LVS to understand. Any serious student of change, understands that if you are working with a corrupt, poorly designed system, no matter how hard you work or how honest you may be, it won’t matter. Sometimes complete breakdown is only option before it can get better.

SERIOUSLY???? So he is a horrible person for being anti-murder of our unborn children??? This is sick and wrong. I too am pro life. I too stand against the mass murdering of our unborn citizens. I too consider it offensive to have innocent babies murdered in the womb – torn apart limb by limb…. and then having their skulls crushed – all while they are alive and feeling every last bit of this torturous death. I stand with Mr. Haugland. I am pro life.

I like what Mr. Marquardt is doing here. He is pre-emptively warning us and hopefully thwarting the rise of another Oligarch, Autocrat, Plutocrat, Right Wing religious nut who seeks to hold progress and our democracy hostage for another lifetime (or at least until he retires to Boca Raton). Good job Matt and keep the EYE out for more of these types. They stymie and stifle people all the time, so doing it back is AWESOME.

@Lisa-To vote for someone just because of one belief is stupid. What about the other things he stands for and does. There is no one who want to kill baby’s “NO ONE”. That doesn’t make the other things he has done right. People who vote for one party just because they are “REPUBLICANS or DEMOCRATS” are stupid. That is why Obama got in. We need someone not tied in with the current crooks (politicians) that are currently in office.

Marybeth, nothing new. Every party has them.

Just another bloviating Republican ignoramous!!

This makes you wonder about where the Republican Party is headed. If they do not change their direction they are headed for defeat. You can not attack the masses and threaten to take away their food an benefits and still expect to win. There are plenty of opportunity to reduce cost without taking away from people who need it. By that statement I am not supporting the leeches like Philly who are able to go to work like everyone else. I mean people who are truly unable to work.

@ LVS…..There are things that can be done to reduce spending in other areas that shouldn’t have to burden those who truly do need our assistance. BUT…some people are SO accustomed to assistance, (handouts)they think they are now entitled to it without any questions asked. There are some as you pointed out, that will never do any more for themselves than they need to, especially when they know others will take care of them no matter what.

@Buzz-I agree with your comments. But, when I see programs like the gandmother outreach progran=m being reduced it really make me wonder if they are looking at the programs on a individual basis or just slashing everything in sight. Not all programs are bad. Haugland attacked some very good people just because they were against the crooked establishment here in Mason City. He did it without even knowing the people involved or what they stood for. That bothers me..

I agree with taking a responsible, reasoned approach to funding/cutting programs. Let’s take the politics out of it as much as possible and keep the people as our main focus.

Partnering volunteerism with government is a good idea and it typically rewarded with many times the benefits with much less cost.

I liked your post, LVS.
