CLEAR LAKE – The Iowa Republican party named 16 new members to its central committee Saturday at its four district convention locations.
Gabe Haugland of Clear Lake, a former attorney and now a trust officer at First Citizens Bank in Mason City, was elected at the fourth district convention in Storm Lake. Haugland is known to be an aspiring right wing politician who opposes same sex marriage and is anti-abortion.
Haugland is also chairman of the Cerro Gordo County Republican Party.

This article is ludicrous. Gabe is a personal friend. He is a great guy with a greater heart. He served this country and his interests lie in making a difference for good. What would you expect from him regarding the city races? It was the incumbents vs the looney toons.

With Marc’s declaration of man-love for Gabe, readers may now be wondering, what is the connection between Gabe Haugland and Marc Hauge? Let’s try to root out that friendship like the Orkin man searching for a roach in the basement.
Gabe is a big banker. Some say he’s a sneaky parking lot Facebooker. But I digress. Marc is hot-shot construction man; he worked as a construction manager for Mercy before moving up to become a project manager for Dean Snyder Construction last year. I’m going to bet these two crossed paths at the Chamber of Commerce, a big construction project, or – judging by Marc’s outfits, which make him look like his mom tried to dress him like Tiger Woods – the golf course. Since both are right wing nuts, they might even go to the same church; we can dam sure bet that they both think they are going to heaven and the rest of us are condemned to a lake of fire. They both have some of the same political beliefs; my research shows that Marc thinks anyone who needs welfare should be drug tested. I’m willing to bet both of these guys hate the working man as well. Marc worked for Mercy as his “incumbents” did their land grab and sold out the homeowners on 1st SW and surrounding area. Mercy doctors gave the king of the incumbents – Eric Bookmeyer – loads of cash to grease those wheels. Meanwhile, Eric was stuffing all his campaign cash in – you guessed it – Gabe’s bank, 1st Citizens, which just happens to be the bank that city hall keeps millions of dollars in.
In summary, all you have here is Gabe, Al and Marc, who may or may not approve of right-wing airport bathroom reach-unders, who know for certain their souls are saved, and are real good pals who will attack anyone like hyenas who even sniff a believe that is not like theirs.

Don’t confuse or muddle entertaining, hard-hitting, newsworthy discussion of facts and opinions with the blatant attacks leveled by these three fellows. We are learning a lot about each of these three characters and how the fabric of the CG Republican party works, how it is woven together. People deserve to know this; it is newsworthy or at least rises to the level of discussion here since all three brought themselves into the picture on their own free will. Al and Marc lashed out here because their crony Republican pal Gabe got called out for his nasty deed – sneaking around a parking lot during his work day like he is 007, name-calling and denigrating people he admits he does not know, from a town in which he does not live, in an election in which he cannot vote, all the while working at a bank where the public dollars that belong to those people are held – in fact, where their opponent (Eric Bookmeyer) was actually holding his campaign account. What’s even worse, Gabe’s boss, Marti Rodamaker (First Citizen’s Bank CEO), gave Eric Bookmeyer $500 and served on his campaign committee. I argued Gabe is a shifty one; sneaky; perhaps thinks he is more than he really is; and that people should think twice about this guy. I based that on the fact that Gabe made a rash decision based on virtually nothing, to attack good and decent people who wanted nothing more than to serve their neighbors. I believe connecting these dots, so to speak, is worthwhile, and NIT readers value this knowledge, so I will continue to furnish this insight to our readers.

@Par-Booky is a leech on society that has found A way to make a living without having to work for it. He married a woman who has a good career and got a job in government. Philly tried the same thing but he couldn’t find a woman other than one strung out on drugs and then no one would vote for him. What a waste of space and good air they both are.

Certainly I mentioned Mr. Haugland’s beliefs, but passed no judgement on them. Read the story again, Al, slowly, and you might glean that from the words shown on your PC monitor. Apparently, the mere mentioning of Mr. Haugland’s beliefs has your hackles up, puts you instantly on the defensive, just like when someone points out that Catholic priests have raped children for centuries. That must really make your tired old blood boil, doesn’t it, Al?
Let’s delve into the psyche of Al Winters. Perhaps Al is losing patience trying to defend his beliefs because some of them have fallen out of favor in today’s world. Perhaps Al is disillusioned because no one comes to his church anymore but other octogenarians. Perhaps Al is pissed because he hasn’t sold any insurance policies lately. Maybe he is seething today because he saw a report that Terry Branflakes is letting his challenger catch up in the race for governor. Whatever the reason, Al Winters is an angry man trying to fight Mr. Haugland’s battles, and that’s kinda sad.

By the way – for the record – I have conservative views and liberal views, as we all do on such a wide range of issues in today’s society. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. Both parties are rotten to the core. I make my choices based on my observations and rational thought.
For example, I hate Obamacare. I’m no fan of the President’s policies. But the choices on the other side of the aisle smell like an Iowa hog farm. I do think the president is in a no-win situation; the culture in Washington is poison. Not so bad here in Iowa, at least in Des Moines, but I have little confidence left in Terry Branstad. The other choice, however, argues his case for my vote with only “I am not Tery Branstad” and “I will come to work everyday”. Probably not enough substance there. American politics are a product of our deteriorating society as a whole. People rat race all day. Are slaves to their corporate masters. They want to sell one more insurance policy. They become jaded, ignore their kids. The kids turn out rotten, disrespect their parents, teachers, police. Crime ramps up. Cops get tougher. People hate cops. Drug use soars. Prisons are full. People can get guns anywhere, they shoot people at-will. Moral fiber in society breaks down. Human rights are an afterthought so people like Al can sell another insurance policy, rent another slum. People like Gabe can scam one more customer at his bank with a monthly fee. It’s all part of the downward spiral America is sucked into. On the bright side, we can all see Brett Michaels for free this summer.

@Matt-That is my view on politics and politicians too. That is why I am also an Independent and I don’t have to vote on someone else’s bad idea’s just because they belong to a party. I vote for the person who I think will do the best job. That damn sure wasn’t drunkmayor.
Clearly a wise fellow, LVS. I feel it is good to re-iterate my non-party status, which has divided Americans into two camps that are going nowhere but down. Really, the parties should be abolished, but only by the people declining to join them. I am proud to join the growing numbers that are doing just that.
Matt I enjoyed reading your comment up top. It shows you understand the chain of causation that leads to the breakdown of our society. Everything affects everything else. This is what I’m trying to get hardhats like LVS to understand. Any serious student of change, understands that if you are working with a corrupt, poorly designed system, no matter how hard you work or how honest you may be, it won’t matter. Sometimes complete breakdown is only option before it can get better.

@Lisa-To vote for someone just because of one belief is stupid. What about the other things he stands for and does. There is no one who want to kill baby’s “NO ONE”. That doesn’t make the other things he has done right. People who vote for one party just because they are “REPUBLICANS or DEMOCRATS” are stupid. That is why Obama got in. We need someone not tied in with the current crooks (politicians) that are currently in office.

This makes you wonder about where the Republican Party is headed. If they do not change their direction they are headed for defeat. You can not attack the masses and threaten to take away their food an benefits and still expect to win. There are plenty of opportunity to reduce cost without taking away from people who need it. By that statement I am not supporting the leeches like Philly who are able to go to work like everyone else. I mean people who are truly unable to work.
@ LVS…..There are things that can be done to reduce spending in other areas that shouldn’t have to burden those who truly do need our assistance. BUT…some people are SO accustomed to assistance, (handouts)they think they are now entitled to it without any questions asked. There are some as you pointed out, that will never do any more for themselves than they need to, especially when they know others will take care of them no matter what.
@Buzz-I agree with your comments. But, when I see programs like the gandmother outreach progran=m being reduced it really make me wonder if they are looking at the programs on a individual basis or just slashing everything in sight. Not all programs are bad. Haugland attacked some very good people just because they were against the crooked establishment here in Mason City. He did it without even knowing the people involved or what they stood for. That bothers me..
I agree with taking a responsible, reasoned approach to funding/cutting programs. Let’s take the politics out of it as much as possible and keep the people as our main focus.
Partnering volunteerism with government is a good idea and it typically rewarded with many times the benefits with much less cost.
