Mason City woman escapes prison after being charged with three felonies

MASON CITY – A local woman who faced three felonies after police discovered she was using a fraudulent credit card to ring up over $10,000 in fraudulent charges got suspended jail terms and probation.

Jacqueline Hollenbach, age 32, was charged with felony C theft in the first degree, felony B on-going criminal conduct, and felony D identity theft. On Monday, Hollenbach plead guilty to the felony theft charge and was sentenced to a 10-year suspended prison sentence, a suspended $1,000 fine, and three years of probation. She was also assessed $455.00 in court costs and fees. A five-year no-contact order was also imposed between Hollenbach and the victim. The other two charges were dismissed.

Police said that Hollenbach had been aiding a person with some medical issues since approximately May of 2013. During this time, Hollenbach allegedly applied for a credit card in that person’s name, without their knowledge or consent. Hollenbach was accused of charging $10,000 or more to the credit card between May of 2013 to present, leading to a charge of felony C first degree theft. Because the multiple charges occurred over several months, she had been charged with felony B ongoing criminal conduct. Hollenbach was also charged with felony D identity theft because she allegedly used the acquaintance’s information to open the credit card, again without the victim’s knowledge or permission.
