CEDAR FALLS – The University of Northern Iowa football program wrapped up the spring season with their annual Spring Game presented by Tyson today inside the UNI-Dome. The defense was victorious, defeating the offense 45-40.

J’Veyon Browning finished with 50 yards on the ground during the first half, including a 24-yard rushing touchdown. Brion Carnes also linked up with Isaac Lintz for a 14-yard touchdown reception, which was set up by a great 32-yard catch by Cody McCoy.

To start the second half, Sawyer Kollmorgen and Rashadeem Gray led the Panthers down field for another offensive touchdown. Kollmorgen finished the drive 4-of-5 for 46 yards while Gray had four rushes for 19-yards to get into the end zone.

Jeremy Johnson highlighted the second half scoring for the defense after notching an interception. Johnson stepped right into one of Carnes’s passes for a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Later in the second half the running game would take center stage. Tyvis Smith totaled 47 yards on 11 rushing attempts and added a five-yard touchdown. Nick Jepsen showed well in his one series of work, amassing 41 hard fought yards on just 5 carries.
