MASON CITY – A man who voluntarily turned himself in to police in connection with an alleged sexual assault has agreed to a plea deal, sources tell NIT.
Court records do not yet reflect the plea deal, but a source close to 22-year-old Teven Isaac Corley revealed Tuesday that he has accepted a plea deal in which he will plead guilty to simple assault. The source indicated Corely will do no jail time and will not be placed on probation.
“I just wasn’t sure how a jury would go,” Corley told the source. “I just want this to be over.”
The alleged sexual assault allegedly took place in Mason City on May 8, 2013, against an un-named female. Corley was charged, along with Tommie Dean Laster. Both men were charged with felony sexual assault in the third degree.
Laster has a plea deal hearing set for May 19, 2014. His lawyer is Richard Tompkins. He is also awaiting a May 6 jury trial for felony drug possession – delivery of marijuana.
