Iowa City police investigate shooting

investigateIOWA CITY – On April 20, 2014, at approximately 3:02 a.m., Iowa City Police officers responded to the Pheasant Ridge Apartments located at 2626 Bartelt Rd. for multiple reports of gunshots and multiple people yelling. Arriving officers observed people running from the area of Roberts Rd. and Bartelt Rd. and ultimately located numerous shell casings in the parking lot of 2652 Roberts Rd.

The Iowa City Police Department’s Investigations Division was summoned and is actively investigating this incident. No injured people were located at the scene and it is unknown whether anyone was injured as a result of this shooting. One suspect believed to be involved in the shooting was described as a younger light-skinned black male approximately 6’1″-6’2″ wearing braids and a black hoody with white stripes.

The Iowa City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the person(s) involved in this shooting. The Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect(s). Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
