WASHINGTON – The US State Department announced Friday that it is extending its review of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline project indefinitely.
According to an announcement from the State Department:
On April 18, 2014, the Department of State notified the eight federal agencies specified in Executive Order 13337 we will provide more time for the submission of their views on the proposed Keystone Pipeline Project.
Agencies need additional time based on the uncertainty created by the on-going litigation in the Nebraska Supreme Court which could ultimately affect the pipeline route in that state.
In addition, during this time we will review and appropriately consider the unprecedented number of new public comments, approximately 2.5 million, received during the public comment period that closed on March 7, 2014.
The agency consultation process is not starting over. The process is ongoing, and the Department and relevant agencies are actively continuing their work in assessing the Permit application.
The Permit process will conclude once factors that have a significant impact on determining the national interest of the proposed project have been evaluated and appropriately reflected in the decision documents. The Department will give the agencies sufficient time to submit their views.
Yeah, this administration doesn’t want to rush into anything.
@Buzz-Unless it is something they want then they will do under the table crap to slide it through when no one is looking. Or they will change the law after it is passed just to suite their liberal way of thinking.
Isn’t that the truth. Either by his majesty’s executive order or they put a Czar in charge of something. If it would benefit him or give them votes, then this would have been done a long time ago!
@Buzz-This one is probably going to backfire on him as I understand there are even a lot of Democrats pissed over this move. The unions want it because there are a lot of really good paying construction jobs involved.
Well. I guess we will just have to wait for the all knowing genius from the lake to give us his opinion before we can get this sorted out. Who knows, maybe obama wants them to build inner-tube homes instead of this pipeline.
@Buzz-Good point. I wonder if they can use union labor to build those inner tube houses? Maybe Philly will give them his goofy designs.
