Mercy doctor fined by state board for ethics violation

DES MOINES – A doctor who practices medicine at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa was fined last month for an ethics violation.

Jeana L. Petree, M.D., a 38-year-old Iowa-licensed physician who practices radiology in Mason City, Iowa, entered into a combined Statement of Charges and Settlement Agreement with the Board on March 6, 2014. The Board charged Dr. Petree with engaging in unprofessional conduct when she inappropriately accessed the medical records of an individual who was not under her care, in violation of patient privacy standards. Under the terms of the March 6, 2014, combined Statement of Charges and Settlement Agreement, the Board issued Dr. Petree a Citation and Warning and ordered her to pay a $2,500 civil penalty and complete a Board- approved professional ethics program.

In Iowa is almost the “norm” for most of the medical providers to violate the privacy and the trust of the patients. The problem is that the system itself is not taking care of such providers and allows them to get going with their unethical, unlawful and discriminatory practices.

My wife knows her and says this was pure politics all the way.

Was someone out to get her as this happens a lot?
