US_NEWS_SCOTUS-IMMIGRATION_1_ABAWASHINGTON – On Thursday, President Obama again laid blame on Republicans for blocking his immigration reform plan.

The president says he has a plan for a “smart, effective immigration system that continues efforts to secure our borders and cracks down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants. It’s a plan that requires anyone who’s undocumented to get right with the law by paying their taxes and a penalty, learning English, and undergoing background checks before they can be eligible to earn citizenship. It requires every business and every worker to play by the same set of rules.”

Statement by the President:

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama

One year ago, the Senate introduced comprehensive bipartisan legislation to fix our broken immigration system. Both sides worked together to pass that bill with a strong bipartisan vote. The Senate’s commonsense agreement would grow the economy by $1.4 trillion and shrink the deficit by nearly $850 billion over the next two decades, while providing a tough but fair pathway to earned citizenship to bring 11 million undocumented individuals out of the shadows, modernizing our legal immigration system, continuing to strengthen border security, and holding employers accountable. Simply put, it would boost our economy, strengthen our security, and live up to our most closely-held values as a society.Unfortunately, Republicans in the House of Representatives have repeatedly failed to take action, seemingly preferring the status quo of a broken immigration system over meaningful reform. Instead of advancing commonsense reform and working to fix our immigration system, House Republicans have voted in favor of extreme measures like a punitive amendment to strip protections from “Dreamers”. The majority of Americans are ahead of House Republicans on this crucial issue and there is broad support for reform, including among Democrats and Republicans, labor and business, and faith and law enforcement leaders. We have a chance to strengthen our country while upholding our traditions as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, and I urge House Republicans to listen to the will of the American people and bring immigration reform to the House floor for a vote.

I find it hilarious when the only job skill spend o crats can put on their unemployment applications is the ability to open their mail boxes to look for their welfare checks.

Thank you, growing up my hair was always curly. If somebody is going to insult me they better make it a very good one, cause they are only words and haven’t killed anybody yet.

I find it both hilarious and sad when republicans try to spell. And these are the people who bitch the loudest about education spending in the public schools!

@bagodad-I find liberal idiots like you pretty hilarious too, or I would if your attempts at humor were not so pathetic.

The ONLY reason why he wants that bill passed is to but all their votes, it has nothing to do with them as a person at all, just their vote.

Of course the liar blames the Republicans. He just can’t get it through his thick damn scull that they just can not trust him not to change the law to suite himself. When there is no trust there can be no cooperation and who can blame them for not trusting a guy that spends all of his time lying.
