MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Morgan Walker has verbally committed to play basketball next season at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
Walker, who is 5 feet, 10 inches and prepped at Sioux Central, averaged 10.4 points per game during her sophomore season as NIACC placed third at the NJCAA Division II tournament. Walker also averaged 6.9 rebounds per contest to lead the Lady Trojans.
Walker, who was a second-team all-NJCAA Region XI selection as a sophomore, shot 81.3 percent from the free-throw line (61 of 75) and had 53 assists and 46 steals.
Northwest Missouri State, an NCAA Division II school, is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Bearcats were 10-17 overall and 7-12 in the conference in the 2013-14 season under coach under first-year coach Michael Smith.
Walker is the fourth player from NIACC’s record-breaking team to verbally commit to a four-year school. Sophomore Chelsey Jacox has committed to the University of San Francisco, freshman Cortni Rush has verbally committed to Drake University and sophomore Emily Bell has committed to Grand View University.
