PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces with coalition advisers killed 16 insurgents and destroyed three narcotics labs April 8 in Nangarhar province’s Khogyani district.

Commandos from the 1st Special Operations Kandak partnered with coalition forces were conducting clearance operations in Kachara village when they were attacked two separate times by insurgents. The commandos quickly repelled both of the attacks, killing 16 insurgents before continuing on to destroy three narcotics labs.

Also during the operation a large number of materials used to manufacture drugs, five kilograms of narcotics, one AK-47 and improvised explosive device materials were recovered to ensure the safety of local residents.

The commandos are one of Afghanistan’s premier fighting forces dedicated to fighting — and defeating — the enemies of Afghanistan in order to achieve peace for its people.
