Former Floyd County Attorney pleads guilty to drunk driving, but is behind in paying courts

MASON CITY – A Clarksville attorney pleaded guilty on March 10 to operating while intoxicated, but is behind in paying his financial debts related to his crimes.

Jesse Marzen of Clarksville, Iowa, was allegedly found drunk in a snowbank outside Mason City by a Cerro Gordo deputy and arrested on January 4, 2014 at about 3:10 AM near the intersection of Thrush Avenue and 230th Street.

Marzen, age 35, was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence (1st offense), no insurance, failure to maintain control and open container (driver).

On March 10, 2014, Marzen pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated.  Jusge Karen Salic suspended half of a $1,250 fine and was allowed to complete a drink driving program instead of serving two days in jail.  Marzen  has paid $100 of $953.75 of fines and fees he now owes Iowa courts.

Judge Rolf Aronsen dismissed the charge of no insurance but assessed $60.00 in court costs, which Marzen has failed to pay.  He was mailed an overdue notice on March 29.
