DES MOINES – Gov. Terry Branstad today signed the annual Muslim Recognition Day proclamation at the Iowa Statehouse today at 11:30 AM.
Representatives of several Muslim communities from around Iowa gathered under the rotunda to educate and share information about Islam and its presence in Iowa. Muslims served food and mingled in the statehouse beginning at noon.
There are an estimated 6,528 Muslims in Iowa, according to a 2010 estimate.

When will there be an Atheist, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh Recognition Day? I believe, if the couple of muslims living in Iowa get such a day, all the others should get one even more.
Islam is political and social ideology masking itself as a religion. It’s objective is to take over the world and run by a caliph. Since it’s inception it has spread through conquest and intimidation. It is not a religion because when someone leave it, that is justification for a death sentence. It is more in line with political order than a religion. It should not have been recognize in this State.
There’s no reason I can think of to celebrate the presence of Muslims anywhere in the US.

People in Iowa need to start burying pig body parts all over their state to keep muslimes out or they will overtake your state. Marry child brides, honor killings and all the other perverted things people from that group do in the name of their religion.

Hugh, cool handle buddy, and I couldn’t agree with you more. The only reason we don’t have a lot more trouble with Muslims here in Iowa is because they don’t quite have the numbers yet. And that is something that they intend to change. Look at what’s happening in Europe right now.
While not as caustic as some of the other comments, I do tend to agree that Muslims are mollycoddled out of fear of retaliation, which is like rewarding a kid for bad behavior. However, this is really just a sideshow to distract Muslims into believing America cares, while oil companies continue to rob them of their natural resources. It works on some of them I guess.
Do the other religions get a Recognition Day too or is this just for Muslims. More special treatment by the looks of it. It’s discrimination against non muslims. Time for nonsense like this to stop.
