MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was arrested at her home Monday, charged with stealing the pills of a resident of a nursing home, among other charges.
Police in Mason City went to the home of Cynthia Jo Ruiter Monday at about 2 PM and placed her under arrest. At this time, police were not able to divulge many details other than she is accused of stealing the pills of a resident at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Ruiter was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and charged with wanton neglect of a resident of a health care facility, dependent adult abuse, and possession of a controlled substance, all serious misdemeanors.
Ruiter is being held in the jail on $4,000 cash or surety bond at this time.

“Hey Mom I’m Home” She doesn’t give a shit about anybody”
Compare this woman’s charges with the woman from Rudd who is facing 6 felonies and 9 serious misdemeanors. The legal system in Iowa is bizarre to say the least. The woman in Rudd probably just stepped out to go to Wal Mart or something, and she could end up being a Felon for the rest of her life. I understand that care levels should be high to protect our elderly (although I wonder why physicians who prescribe “shut up medications” aren’t held liable in the State’s eyes?)…(750!!)
I wonder if it was worth it just to steal some lousy pills. Now she has lost her job and will have to pay a fine at the least and has it on her record so she will not be able to work in the medical field again. Pretty stupid on her part.
