Callanan campaign raises thousands of dollars with help of Dr. Gary Blodgett

CLEAR LAKE – Casey Callanan, a Republican running for the seat on the Cerro Gordo Board of Supervisors being vacated by Bob Amosson, is enjoying the benefits of his longtime association with one of North Iowa’s most influential Republicans. In interviews with Mr. Callanan and Gary Blodgett NorthIowaToday.com has learned that over $23,000 rolled into the Callanan campaign in about a three-week time frame, most-likely the result of a letter Blodgett signed endorsing Callanan. Online records verify claims that what Blodgett has raised for Callanan even exceeds the amount he raised for both 2012 campaigns of Supervisor Jay Urdahl, a Mason City Democrat.

Dr. Gary Blodgett is a retired Mason City orthodontist and businessman who represented Cerro Gordo county in the Iowa Legislature from 1992-2001, where he served as Deputy Majority Leader. President George W. Bush appointed Blodgett to the position of federal administrative Judge in 2001, and he served in Washington, D.C. during both of Bush’s terms as President. His wife, Sandy, and son, Todd, and daughter, Suzette, all have worked in the White House under three Republican administrations.

Callanan worked for Blodgett as an intern in his office in the state Capitol and later, Dr. Blodgett helped him land an internship with the Budget Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. When Callanan decided to seek the Supervisor post, he asked Blodgett to endorse him. This was done in a fundraising letter mailed to Cerro Gordo Republicans, signed by Gary and Sandy Blodgett. A copy of the letter was furnished to NIT by a recipient who subscribes to NorthIowaToday.com.

Blodgett’s letter raised substantial funds, Mr. Callanan told NIT, but declined to reveal a specific amount while not denying that his campaign has taken in dollar figures passed along to NIT.

“I’m very grateful for Dr. Blodgett’s help and guidance over the years,” Mr. Callanan said in a phone interview Friday afternoon.

According to online campaign finance records, Jay Urdahl – with Blodgett’s help – has for decades been Cerro Gordo county’s all-time champion in raising money for campaigns for county office. Urdahl still has $17,060.55 left over from his 2012 re-election. A Mason City Democrat, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NorthIowaToday.com that “With doc’s backing, Jay got in, and stays in. But Urdahl’s never raised over ten grand in any one year. Dr. Blodgett raised Callanan more than twenty-three grand in what I heard was about three weeks.” When asked how he knew that $23,000 was raised in approximately 21 days, the source said, “I’m close with some Democrats and two Republicans who know Callanan, and that’s exactly what they said Casey told them over a month ago.” The letter is dated Feb. 2. The Democrat said all of this money is from individuals, not from PACs, which is “unheard of around here, especially for a Primary for county office, for a first-time candidate. Callanan’s probably raised more than all six other candidates put together. Blodgett’s letter averaged over $1,100 a day for Callanan, for three straight weeks. That’s never happened before.”

Gary Blodgett has for decades been among Iowa’s best-connected, ‘Go-To’ Republicans, who, in his own, first campaign in 1992 raised nearly $60,000 from individual contributors in short order. He has been extensively involved in the campaigns of Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, Senator Chuck Grassley, Congressmen Steve King, Tom Latham, Jim Nussle, and Fred Grandy.

Blodgett has also raised money for, and been an adviser to, every GOP U.S. President from from Gerald R. Ford to George W. Bush. But he has shown a willingness in local races to be bipartisan. Democrat Urdahl has been a beneficiary of Blodgett’s ‘Midas Touch’, as Blodgett has raised “umpteen thousands of dollars for Urdahl’s campaigns,” according to a Courthouse employee. His prolific fundraising was also a major factor blocking efforts by a North Iowa community activist in 2010 who initially proposed adding two new seats to the BOS, which would have increased it to five members.

Blodgett got involved, raising money to oppose the effort, and the idea was soon dropped. In 2012, Blodgett helped Democrat Phil Dougherty turn the tide against Mr. Watts, whose candidacy for county Supervisor represented his strongest-ever challenge. At Dougherty’s request, Blodgett arranged for brochures and letters he signed endorsing Dougherty to be mailed to every registered Republican in the district. Politicians from both parties credited Gary Blodgett with making possible the closest victory Dougherty ever won.

Blodgett’s own money, and funds he raised, also enabled his chosen successor, the late Roger Broers, to narrowly defeat Democrat John Jaszewski in the 2000 race for Blodgett’s seat in the Iowa Legislature, a Clear Lake Democrat told NIT. “I’ll tell you what,” the Democrat said, “it’s like, if you’re a Republican, or even a Democrat that wants to win, getting on old doc’s good side is a great way to do it. I mean, if Gary wants you to be elected, you probably will be. Unfortunately.”

Callanan says he’s “grateful” for Dr. Blodgett’s help, and the money which is fueling his campaign. Gary Blodgett told NIT in a phone interview this week that “It takes money to win elections. Nothing prevents any candidates from raising it, and nothing stops any supporters from making sure their candidates have it. In my view, Casey’s the best-qualified candidate seeking this office. He’ll do a fine fine job as a Supervisor, he’ll serve honorably – and I’ll do what I can to make sure he wins.”

Asking questions are really good thing if you are not understanding anything
totally, but this piece of writing offers pleasant understanding yet.

My blog post: bing.com (Major)

@ Curiouser–

Just google Iowa Courts… it will take u there.

He lives in Clear Lake in a world of his own…

He makes guitars for a living….quite lucrative I’m sure!!! haahaha

Government help and parents foot the rest of the bill…..

Another bloviating ignoramous….

@ Curiouser

for whatever it’s worth I gave a small contribution to the Callanan campaign. I also know Grandon-Kennedy and Good-worthy candidates also. I don’t know the rest of the guys but I’m sure their good candidates-they haven’t asked for any money. A lot of this is about who wants it most. I’ve heard very little about how any of them stand on anything. It’s a good gig for whoever gets elected and we have have some good guys running. Whoever wants it most will be the guy. Paranoia isn’t…

Thanks RN. I frequent no haunts, so chances are I won’t run into him. However, I’m civil, and exude a presence of peace, so if anything unfortunate were to occur, it would be because of the crazed actions of someone else…which bystanders would be able to attest. I’d simply dial 911, explain the situation, then begin filming. If it really got out of hand and I sensed violence…well, let’s just say I’m protected. Wink Wink.

If you exude peace, why do you carry a weapon.

I never said I carry a weapon. I said “I’m protected.” You can interpret that anyway you like. It could be that I’m referring to my insurance policy, which I have…wink wink.

or a condom

I know that you do carry a weapon.

Some ladies have called it that. wink wink.

A rose by any other name is still a rose. A skunk by any other name is still a skunk.. And a skunk can never be a rose….

Since he used to go by Peter and now Philsophus– just changing the name doesn’t make it go away.

I get tired of having to sift thru all the manure to get to some decent comments.

I thought you said you were going to take a breather from NIT…. That would be wonderful. A breath of fresh air….

Don’t forget….he also had a another fit one time and did leave for about 6 hours. He came slithering back that time using the name “Ghost Writer.”

He reminds me of Sheldon Cooper on the TV show The Big Bang Theory. Both are very anal, both are the smartest person they know, both have few friends is any and of course, both are very much fictional.

Buzz, not sure where you wrote it, but I’m going to be using the term “Solarian” as a way to describe our people. Thanks for the help. It has a nice ring to it, and it’s going to stick! 🙂

You are very welcome….Sheldon. 🙂

@ B-pak, who is this Philosophus, somebody from here in Mason? Totally agree with you … why does this guy so dislike most everyone from the Blodgett’s to the Mayor? He means Bookmeyer? Or? Blumpkin, please tell me how to look him up on Iowa Courts.

Is Iowa Courts Online your Bible? The Judge All / Be All for Character Assessment? Wow, you people are more simple than I previously thought. But given the addiction to crime stories (Matt makes money off you because of your addiction btw), I guess it makes sense that you’d want to run to your Online Bible to find out how you should think.

Matt prints those story’s because no one else will and it is important for people to know what is happening in their area. It is also important to know who you are dealing with and if they have a criminal record you certainly would not want them handling your money. You also wouldn’t want a sex offender babysitting your children. If you do not want your name on record do not break the law. It is real easy when you think about it.

And I suppose you approve of this Blumpkin insinuating I’m some bothersome criminal?

Ok Phil but how you think don’t work to good for you. You run for the Council you loose. You bitch about moter cycle noise how did that work out. You say your greater then the Blodgett’s and them has family money you say well that is from dirty deals there money. You go off on Doc and them he and his get’s to run, then you say yes he of course there guy will beat your canidate. If you even got one. Then, you go admit your going to loose there’s will win. Phil, are you smoking dope.

You make no sense and are barely literate. I’ve said no such things about the Blodgetts. I don’t even know them or about them save for bits and pieces on NIT. I have said they are part of the established power structure, which is true. My gripe with the established power structure would therefore include by default, the Blodgetts. There is nothing personal in this at all, obviously.

Don’t be fooled by Philosophus, his crimes are a matter of public record. Look him up on Iowa Courts Online, he is not the great person he claims to be.

You’re right, I’m even GREATER. You keep swimming in your shit pit, and I’ll keep pushing forward into the future, blazing trails and annihilating ignorance in my path…setting the stage for cultural transformation, and liberation of the people from the clutches of despicable, greedy men.

@ Philosophis, you say your not for GOP dont want no Republican get in call us thugs, yes. I seen you say Blodgett’s and them is Malacki you do not want Gary’s man this Callanan to get in. Only way to know who wins is see who wins. I bet Dr. Blodgett get’s his guy in no matter what you do or say? Then we will know if your really GREATER like you say ok.

Pee Wee, I’m so far removed from Clear Lake politics that I could care less. I stated the obvious, that Callahan was part of the established powers because his dad Mike sits on the Council AT Large. It doesn’t take that much smarts to call that one. I am working on things well beyond the intellects these Red Hat men can comprehend. They’ll have to catch up to me, as I’ve left them in the dust. I’ll still sue their ass though for the loud tailpipes, so the bikers better stay away.

In 5 years or so, once the people realize who they had in their midst, they’ll be practically begging for me to return and run for office. I’ll have no interest unless ALL of those sitting on the Council are gone…and that includes the Mayor, Scott Flory, the whole bunch. I have a new community now, and the projects I’m working on possess the power to change the world as we know it for the better. Nothing these petty men in Clear Lake are working on can come close.

@ Philly, so your saying it won’t take much smarts to call this one, do you mean Gary Blodgett and his posse will get their guy in? You say they have to catch up to you well if their guy wins then who will have to catch up to who?

And you wonder why no one wants to run for office…Open a business..or do anything to expand in mason city.

@ Connie you say its time to clip the Blodgett’s wings well ok. You going to do it. Didn’t think so. You here makes fun of us believes in God and our prayer chain well guess what. We will win. Look how dumb your people are, this Philly he is just like most the Democrap’s I know, always has a lazy hand out no wonder he don’t want no Republican to get this. No I did not get Blodgett’s letter no I am not for Casey but we will vote for him if he beats Ivan our first choice, he is in our church.

Well said Ventura Velma

No,I don’t want a Republican to get in because I know they will let thugs and bullies trample us and do nothing about it. They will pass out special interest favors to their friends they golf with. They will put on a suit and go to church, then do the exact opposite Monday morning. They’ll squash good clean technologies because their family money and investments are made through dirty ones. They’ll require you to believe in their God only. They’d put gays to death if they could.

Hey little guy, you don’t have to believe in any god if you don’t want to, this is America.

Only because liberal progressives have fought to keep it that way.

Are you a whiny, sniveling little Democrat cry baby, always looking for a hand out, aren’t you.

Phil your right, Republitard’s take care their own to Hell with us 99% people. Special favors for their friends that’s GOP all right. Look how Gary Blodgett’s druggy son the Nazi money launder takes care of his rich friends. I seen he took Bookie out to the Country club with Steve Minert, they cut that deal give the Harley our money. That tax money should of never went there, so Toddy boy hooks them two up and out it goes. Listen people we have got to stop this, vote Adam Wedmore.

Does anybody know, is Casey Callanan as conservative as his menter Dr. Blodgett? Gary is a real nice guy, but his politics are to the right of Atillia the Hun. The Blodgett’s make these Tea Party nut bags look like Christie Vilsack. Or Sharon Steckmann. Which is fine, if your rich I guess. All these years I wonder, how did old doc always win, in Democratic Mason City? Well now I know. It was money, money, money. I am a independent, not a millionaire. So please somebody answer this for me.

Don’t change the subject, we are talking about Philly.

Shut up, Missy Bumpkin, your trying to divert away from the article, that is the subject. If you and Phil want to back and fourth you kids find a chat room.

Oh, blow it out your back side.

I am appalled at Mediator’s idea to lower property tax rates to reflect assessment rises. Where will the funds come from to make up the difference between lower revenues and outgo? This will mandate budget/program cuts, lower essential services, RIF’s, and mean fewer hard-won employee benefits for public sector workers. Doug Nelson’s proposal is probably sounds great to Gary Blodgett and his fellow multi-millionaires, but it’s bad for workers. Shame on you, “Mediator”. cc to: Connie…

Please don’t misrepresent what I said.

As assessments rise, and they will be because of farm land value increases that are throttled back to an allowable growth per year and an improving housing market, property tax rates should be able to be lowered responsibly.

Either that, or the rollback rate for the assessments should be rolled back.

If assessments go up 10% (like mine did this year), do you really think we should grow our government by 10%? I don’t. Cost of living or less.

Dougherty brags there’s been no Prop tax rate raises since who knows when. So? What do you call it when assessments keep going up? Like Nelson’s idea. Make the Supervisors stop robbing us, and playing us for fools. If Mediator promises this he has our votes too.

You can like Nelson’s idea all you want, it will never happen as long as Urdahl and Dougherty are there. They are both Union guys who will never go along with cutting programs and services that elect Democrats. Even their sugar daddy Blodgett would have a hard time pushing them on that. Blue collar Union Democrats are the worst.

@ Creator …you’re obviously a greedy, narrow-minded Republitard who probably sent Gary Blodgett money to help elect Callanan. If you weren’t so vapid and shallow, I would give you a piece of my mind.

Based on the thoughts produced by your mind, Laker, you should not give any of it away. You don’t have much to spare, honey.

Got to say Mediater come up with a good one down there yes. Hell yes get them property tax rate’s down, even them up with assessment’s. Buck for buck, they should. Stop these politicians raising our taxes even when they still take more money from us. Mediater if your Doug Nelson you just got my vote the wifes to.

@ Peewee, the Mediators right we do not need no more supervisors that is connected to the Blodgett’s. These rich Republitard’s have to much say as it is. Time to clip they’re wings.

Hey all you rightwingnut religious idiots, this prayer chain your bible study group is doing to beat Doug Nelson is insane. Crazy. I guess if Nelson loses you all will think God is on your side because he is Republitard, right? You people scare me.

If you take it as parody, it’s actually quite funny.

Mediator: Uneducated, ignorant rightwingnuts who soil this site with fascist, racist, religious extremism are the GOP’s lifeline. Republitards like Bush, Branstad, Grassley and Blodgett use them to get elected, and then vote against their economic interests once in office. Crafty plutocrats like Gary mask their elitist ways while out on the campaign trail, and behind closed doors call the shots. Disgraceful, Democratic gofers like Urdahl and Dougherty deliver the goods to people like Doc.

I have talk to people about Dr. Blodgett’s Urdahl connection, they say its because Jay and doc’s son Todd was friends they go way back. Urdahl better hope he never get’s beat, Gary will drop him like a hooker with AIDS.

My, what a bunch of stuff we have here. Why are some of you so upset, this is politics. Ok so Casey Callanan found himself a good fundraiser. Did anybody else, guess not. I know the Blodgett’s, they are very nice, they do alot for our area. Maybe instead of just bitching you that wants somebody else should do like Gary and write out some checks and get your friends to do that. We got the letter but have not gave yet, waiting for our tax refund.

Clear Lake behaves like a cult. The only way to counter a cult, is to start your own…a blue oyster one.

Of which, you would like to be the self appointed pearl.

Are you starting a cult who will live in homes made from used tires and you will all sit around thinking you are saving the environment.

Actually I’ll be thinking how sorry I feel for those who are paying high heating and cooling costs while my bill to the utility company will be ZERO.

Your bills are zero now because you don’t work and have no income and live in mother’s basement. I hear that your biotecture venture is failing miserably, it will never get off the ground. You should get a job and contribute something meaningful to society.

Philosophus…. Please be a dear and give all of us uninformed, non-solarians a full and complete report on how your big meeting went today. How many people attended, future meeting dates and locations etc., etc….

Thanks in advance for your update.

Urdahl is a joke.

Hell yes Urdahl is a joke always has been, same for his whole damn dead beat family. His loser brother left a trail of bad debts here so bad he can’t come back, he knows he would get beat up, maybe shot dead. Use to really respect Dr. Blodgett till I seen he turned a greedy UPS part timer that comb’s his nose hairs gets wrote up for tossing boxes in to a parasite with a title. Jay play’s Democrat he is a fake really, out for just Jay. When I see Urdahl I want to punch his ugly face, he is…

Can you tell us how you really feel, 10th? Ha. We do not know Mr. Urdahl but we have met Mrs. Blodgett, who is lovely. We admire Dr. Blodgett too, he is a community pillar of many years. If Sandy and Gary approve of Mr. Callanan so do we. We do not want a Board with just Democrats.

Lehigh your right that goes for NIACC too. Well somebody better get organize, let doc know he is all done shoving his canidates down our throat’s. Time to get busy no more talk, get going people. Got to get behind the only one can beat Callanan that is Adam V. Wedmore.

Nice try, but I’m voting for Doug Nelson.

@ Barney then you need to know Nelson is against making people show a ID to vote and he likes Unions and Obama Care which is communist. Now will you still vote for him. Our bible study group has a prayer chain, one of the things we are praying for is for him to lose.

Ohhh… how very Christian of you.

Polio how Christian is Obama Care, people especially old folks will die because of it. I have read about some, they have lost their health plans so these loafers can take theirs. That is not Christian, sounds like your not either.

A well written and extensively researched piece of outstanding journalism. Thank you

Vicky, if your politician was out voted then they lost period! However, if you think your politician should be in office even after being out voted, then it it’s you who wants to be the Dictator! Shame on you

This is a wake up call for all who cherish democracy and fair elections. We the people must bring a cessation to the influence of major money, relatively speaking, polluting our campaigns, subverting the democratic process, and threatening fair elections in which all of us should be considered equal. Equality itself is at stake here. Now is the time for all good people of this county to join the forces of good against those of greed, and the typical Republican desire to control our government.

LVS-why do you have to bash someone that does not agree with you. I have often seen posts were you state you only attack ones who have attacked you first. Nowhere in this gentleman statement and opinion do I see him even mention you let alone attack you but yet your response is attacking in putting this gentleman down.
What do you have to add that is relative to the conversation without just bashing people?
And here’s the thing I don’t agree with his statement either but I am not going to…

@Viking-If you are talking about NIACC it is because he/she only comes out to attack Dr. Blodgett and it really makes me mad that he/she attacks someone who he/she has admitted he doesn’t even know. That is backstabbing of the worst type and I will react to that. If he/she wants to state their beliefs that is fine. If he is going to bring in personality’s just because someone supports someone else then that is a different situation. As far as Lehigh is concerned, read it again.

First of all, you neglected to mention that your diatribe against Retired NIACC was deleted. That is the one that Iowaviking5 was referring to.

Secondly, nowhere did Retired NIACC mention Gary Blodgett. He was just stating his opinion as to “big money’ and politics.

And lastly, I don’t attack you at every opportunity.
If that were the case, I would have to comment every time that you post your inane ramblings.
I just point out the overabundance of flaws in your comments and character.

Yes, was talking about NIACC. I do not agree with this statement either and do not appreciate him personally attacking Mr. Blodgett.
I stated that in a reply to him but for some reason that post has been deleted

I think NIT needs to rethink the policy for “2 strikes and your out” pertaining to how comments are deleted. As it stands now, if 2 people “Report comment”, it is immediately wiped off the board and goes into a holding area, where Matt reviews it. I imagine when Matt gets busy he invariably ends up honoring the deletion rather than reading through them all. I suggest he increase the number from 2 to perhaps 5 Reports, before the comment goes to the “penalty box.”

Yes that is good idea Phil.

Matt-there has been times that I have hit the report button when I meant to hit the reply button. That may be happening to others as well, just got fat fingers I guess

Yes, but as it stands the owners of a thought or opinion are only granted 1/3 power over THEIR comment. That ratio is unfairly tilted in the direction of censorship, and doesn’t err on the side of free speech. As it stands, a mere 2 people can “arrest” your thoughts and put you into holding cell until the judge sees you…sometimes not until Monday morning. I think the number required to make an “arrest” should be much higher; 5 minimum in my opinion.

Spoiled little rich kid, try supporting yourself, then you will have better things to worry about.

For someone living a carefree life, no worries, no job, no bills, mommy will take care of it, this is the most pressing issue he has.

I agree. Gary is a nice man, he was our son’s orthodontist.

@ IowaViking-If you read my response to Lehigh you will see I did not attack him personally. I just countered his attack with my own viewpoint. BCN is another deal altogether as BCN uses every opportunity to attack me and is a troll of the worst type. Philly I am leaving alone as long as he leaves me alone. I hope that answers your question and I must state it is really none of your business what I do as long as it does not effect you.

Who is BCN?

BCN is just a liberal troll that comes out of the woodwork every week or so and tries to impress people with his/her lack on intelligence. It doesn’t work but he/she is so wrapped up in the comments that no one else agrees with he/she keeps on trying. It would be good if he/she would pay for the right like the rest of us but liberals are used to getting everything for nothing. It is a way of life with them.

@ LVS, your right, Democraps just want something for nothing. Good for Gary Blodgett he is trying to stop this thats why he wants Callanan who I will vote for. He will keep our property tax rates down ours went up to $1,500, we are sick of them vote’s to take our money. My wife is in on the bible study prayer chain to keep Nelson from getting his Democrap hands on it to.

Tax rates didn’t go up, assessments did. Tax rates need to be coming down as assessments continue to rise. This year’s budget grew by about 3% in every department while holding tax rates. Salaries were raised a similar amount.

Lowering tax rates should attract more businesses and families to move here.

If there is a Blodgett connection to our current supervisors, how will electing another Blodgett supported supervisor change anything?

Yes we do want something for nothing…it’s called SOLAR ENERGY. You’d be wise to familiarize yourself with it.

@Philly-now that statement I can go along with. I think it will be the real energy of the future if the big energy company’s do not figure out how to steal it. Have you heard about the new automobile fuel called Sun Gas? It is supposed to be a lot more powerful than gasoline and does not require oil to make it. I think it may be hydrogen but they didn’t say that yet.

Sun Gas? I believe maybe turned me on to that thru a link. All I’ve been saying this entire time was that if Americans (we) were to do everything in our power to develop our own energy grid / portfolio thru clean renewable means, we would have very little need to be involved with the middle east as severe and as dependent as we are. Then, by all means, if we are attacked, unleash the full strength of our military. There have been concerted efforts to STOP development of solar by some.

I have an aversion to war. Thoughts of shooting someone in the head and ending their life in a violent and bloody manner don’t sit well with me. So I pondered the present conflicts, and came to the conclusion that the Christian thing to do would be to seek the cleanest, most abundant and endlessly renewable energy source and develop it with all good faith and effort. If aggressors still wanted to harm us in our self sufficiency, then it would be self defense and entirely justified.

You have an aversion to work as well. You also have an affinity to getting arrested.

And you have an aversion to harmony…and an affinity for conflict…messy indeed. I’m sitting in a pub as I write drinking a beer…a beer that is served legally, and the waitress is going around asking of she can bring people another beer, and another…

Do you think I really feel guilt for “crime” of an alcohol nature, served in area bars? I DON’T.

Interference with Official Acts is not a crime of “alcohol nature.”

I was under the influence of alcohol when the “interference” occurred, which consisted of me running from officers who were trying to arrest me. Big deal. I was in a college town (Iowa City). You have anything better to do than cling to my immaculate record? Every “crime” I have ever committed involved a legally served substance known as alcohol. There has never been a victim involved in any crime on my record….so effectively they are non-crimes.

No dipshit, they are still crimes, your skewed definition of crime is inaccurate.

You are not writing, you are typing.

Can you imagine if society created rules pertaining to marijuana intoxication, legalized it, yet never explained it to teenagers properly in school or in public awareness campaigns…then began arresting people who behaved in certain ways because they didn’t quite understand the effects the substance was having on their bodies? And couldn’t figure out how to get home after a hashish bar served them to the point of inebriation and it was 20 below out? And provided no public transpo?

Nothing is your fault is it Pete.

No. I don’t believe in “Original Sin”. I believe in what essentially could be called “The Innocence Project”…and not the legal movement to free wrongly convicted criminals….but the philosophical movement that sees man as innocent creatures and not guilt ridden ones who must “work off” their sin to 40 years of forced labor and a 40 year fixed rate mortgage.

Is that why you are a non-contributing leach on society.

There’s “organized, legal stealing” which the policy shapers formulate to their advantage. Mining and Drilling Rights, Suitcases of bribe money, aid to foreign militaries…the list goes on and on. Who earns what? Where is the origin of value? Who attributes what to where? Is it brainwashing that leads you to believe gas should be $3.34 a gallon? Hegemony? Oligarchy? Scarcity? Do Native Indians have a right to complain? How about freed slaves? Is a newborn free or indentured?

Everybody has a right to complain, this is a free country, it is whether the complaints are valid that is the question.

Work? All men have a benefactor, someone who looks after their needs & funds them to a sustainable level. I have not yet hooked up with mine, yet despite this, I manage to make significant strides. I should be funded by ISU or some technical research institute, but I can’t sit thru undergraduate bullshit. Some day I can see myself being awarded an honorary degree. I don’t honor the present political agreements between certain men who apparently “own” everything and have defined reality.

We have been through this before, you have made no strides and have contributed nothing. You will receive no honorary degree, you have done nothing to earn one. Give me a break.

You couldn’t understand the achievements I’ve made, because you only see things in Benjamin Franklins. Your belief in 100 dollar bills has effectively cut off your own ability to learn and grow. You are bitter about this (undoubtedly because you were forced into labor from an early age), so you spend your time “sniffing out” those who don’t perform the same amount of labor as you do, and attempt to punish and belittle them…while avoiding going after old established family money.

Reality check, you have made no achievements, you live in your mom’s basement.

and I’ve lived in a car, the woods, a homeless shelter, sleeping rooms, apartments, houses, along a seashore, in a hammock, and in a latrine pit. Your point? What if I burrowed out a long tunnel starting from a piece of land I owned, and created a large dwellings underneath the city above ground? Who owns that? Have the depths to property ownership been established all the way down to earth’s core? You’re too much a simpleton in how you see the world.

I even slept in a dumpster. How about showing up to San Francisco off the bus with $40 bucks in my pocket, meeting hipsters at a bar, and crashing on their floor? I slept in the doorway of a business after stumbling around drunk. Shall we talk about LA? Minneapolis? Foreign Countries? I’ve been many places, slept in a lot of different configurations. Sleep is sleep. I don’t get bothered by the so-called legal definitions. As far as I see it, everyone has a right to sleep somewhere.

First and foremost, hipsters are ridiculous. Secondly, if you worked for a living you wouldn’t have to sleep in all these places. Like I said, just a leach on society.

How about you wait and see the format I develop first. Tis’ true,in the present configurations,I view cities as slave pit rip offs:Unenlightened, noisy, non productive, sugary, cheap, expensive, dubious, misleading. Like some rich kid putting together a plastic hamster kingdom. I have very little interest. Show me something to inspire me. I’m still waiting. Actually I’m not waiting…I’m building my own. I like the idea of subterranean. How deep can man go? Can you say Backhoe?

You are not building anything, your imagination has got the best of you, this too will pass.

Philosophus…. You can’t take responsibility for anything can you? You can’t because you aren’t responsible. You are the kind of guy who shits his pants then blames it on a bad pair of tennis shoes. I find it quasi queer that you can’t seem to realize that so many people have your number and yet you still spew your dribble.

Do you realize one time I did shit my pants…in my car, just to rebel against the compulsive drive telling me I had to pull over and find somewhere to go.

WOW, you’re the man! I’ll bet you showed yourself who was in charge then, huh?

I did. And while I was teaching my bowels a lesson, I spared my car seat by placing a Fareway sack underneath. All I can say is pay visits to your grandparents in Good Shepard, and “turn and clean them often.” It burns.

Like I said, spoiled little rich kid. A simpleton as well.

Correction: a “soiled”, tall middle-class kid. And there’s already a Mayor of Simpleton…his name is Crabb. Actually I can’t really blame Nelson, he’s being held hostage by Boehnke’s shadow Army just the same as everyone else is. Last I heard, personally the Mayor doesn’t like loud pipes either. But he chose the weaker conformed path, when he should have stood up for what’s right. So he is a Simpleton.

You are a simpleton, as well as a weakling who can’t support himself and leaches off others, and blames others for his wrongdoings. Loud pipes are only a problem in your own mind, a made up issue so you have something to look like a hero for trying to fight.

Correction: Loud pipes are clear evidence of special interest favoritism by government officials, who prosecute certain crimes, yet overlook others. The evidence is clear and incontrovertible…hypocrisy painted in bright neon pink for all the world to see: Pot head hippies and musicians jamming in their basement= go to jail and pay fines. Loud aggro bikers or trucks with missing mufflers =free to menace and harass. Double Standards pure and simple.

Wrong again Philosophus,
you made up this whole problem as a way to look like a hero to the people and you know it. Then ran for election on the basis of loud pipes and failed miserably.

Wrong. I tried to ignore the sounds, pretend like they weren’t that bad, see it from “their perspective”, and wear earmuffs; Nothing worked. It was clear and incontrovertible that Loud tailpipes are menacing, qualify as “disorderly conduct” by the city’s own definition, and are a violation of Iowa Statue. It only gets worse as the weather gets warm. Like Afterburners on an F/A-18 some of them. Cops just laugh, or think “it’s cool.” Pot is cool to some also, yet people go to jail.

You are wrong about pot and are lying about loud pipes.

From Clear Lake City Code

40.03 DISORDERLY CONDUCT .
No person shall do any of the following:
(Code of Iowa, Sec. 723.4 [1])
2. Noise. Make loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of any residence or public building which causes unreasonable distress to the occupants thereof.

I know what the law is, you are lying about it being a problem with loud pipes all the time.

Just wait. The season is just getting started. As LVS always says “The Harley’s are coming for you.” Well, he’s not lying…they are coming, and they are loud as hell. But trucks without mufflers are just as loud.

You still want to continue with this line of delusion and apologia you are trying to confuse the public with? Or do you want to just admit you are trying to protect your love of loud pipes, and your ability to get away with violating the law?

I don’t have a love for loud pipes or pipes of any kind, I’m just sharing the fact that you have created a problem that does not exist so you could be a hero, you plan failed.

Again, you’re TOTALLY WRONG. I tried all the normal avenues to get remedy: reporting to police, speaking before city council, meeting with Chief and City Manager…no resolution, only lip service. An opportunity opened up, and I took it. I did not want to, but felt I had to. When government goes bad, a person has no choice but to step up and try and become the government. When that fails, only remedy left is to sue. Self Help is option only for life and death situations.

Wrong again little guy, you are still lying.

Wrong again little guy, you are still lying.

Fascinating to witness an ostrich burying his head in the sand. Take a good look folks, this is what denial looks like. They repeat to themselves over and over again like a prayer, hoping they can make the facts go away.

Maybe you aren’t lying, just delusional.

For the love of all that is Holy, go to bed Pete, your constant typing and pacing back and forth in the living room is keeping me up.

Actually correction: citizens have the right to self help through their own community policing if the existing authorities are wholly incompetent or corrupted.

You are incompetent little fella.

From Iowa Code

321.436 MUFFLERS, PREVENTION OF NOISE.

Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke, and no person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway.

Only if you make me a double espresso to help me sleep.

Pot-head hippies belong in jail, they are dirty and creepy and contribute nothing, like you.

He doesn’t know what he is doing, he is not right in the head but is off his meds.

Spoiled little rich kid.

Why would you care what the Christian thing to do would be? You’re a Biotect Buddhist remember?

Buzz, and I’m a Christian too…a real one, not a Sunday morning surprise.

You are not a Christian, don’t lie.

Philosophus predicted this, who is surprised. Gary thinks he is saving us little people the trouble to vote the one’s we want in. Some body better stop the Blodgett’s if we don’t all the supervisers will behold to them. Old doc can KMA.

@Lehigh-that is bull and you know it. Al the money does is buy advertising. If you don’t want to vote for the guy then don’t but don’t blame the guy who is supporting the guy he likes. You would do the same thing if you had the chance and you know it.
