Man battling alcohol issues arrested for drunk driving this week

MASON CITY – A man with a long history of alcohol-related arrests has now become more dangerous to himself and others after getting behind the wheel of a car this week.

Michael Dean Anderson, age 64, has shown up in the news over and over for his alcohol-infused drama here in Mason City. Last November, he was discovered passed out in the street at the intersection of North Federal Avenue and 11th Street and arrested. Last April, he was arrested three times in a week for aggravated public intoxication. Leaving out his other numerous arrests, he has been taken to jail at least twice for public intoxication already this year.

Now, the stakes got higher this week when a caller reported a possible drunk driver to Mason City police on March 17. Police then located and stopped a car driven by Michael Dean Anderson at 9:32 PM at the 000 block of Federal Avenue. Anderson was arrested for operating while intoxicated and driving while revoked.

Anderson remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on no bond as he awaits an April 4 hearing.
