According to police, an officer happened to pass 34-year-old Paige Landon Peyton at about midnight Wednesday, who was walking near Jefferson Avenue and 3rd Street NW. The officer stopped him and discovered that he appeared to be intoxicated. Peyton was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on charges of public intoxication and drug possession and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Perfect example of reading here read headline on tractor or trailer. What was stolen???

So you see the guy obviously. Intoxicated walking down the street!! You drive on by and mind your own business as the cop!! Fifteen minutes later you get a call of a pedestrian struck by a car and killed!!! You arrive and lo and behold it’s the guy you saw several minutes earlier!!! Now come one of you soft bleeding hearts that rant and rave telling all you saw the cop driveby the obviously drunk and you did nothing. It was your responsibility when hired to protect and serve. See next

Now come the family of the deceased and they sue the city and the officer for neglect., they are awarded millions because he can’t provide for his wife and 10 kids. The end. Of course not the driver of the car that struck and killed the guy can’t sleep or drive or work and he sues the city and pd also. Ahhhh. He gets a million dollars of the tax payers money to!!! See the problem you bleeding heart liberals. Kept stopping thT drunk person and maybe you save his life or save you $$$$

hey DICK. Don’t believe the sequence you read in print you liberal DICK,!!

Those are a lot of “What Ifs”. I’d rather people be able to walk freely and securely in their persons rather than worry about the worse case scenario for a public intoxication case. Nice effort though.

What air do you breath??

Unless the person is cutting through yards, puking at the curb, or causing loud disruptions, walking home on the sidewalk should not constitute interference.

@Dick-they have been doing that for years. It is one of my pet complaints. Anyone walking after dark is liable to get stopped and checked. Responsible people who have had one to many drinks and decide to walk home are targeted and end up with a public intox. They are just boosting revenue at the expense of the citizens.

The police found drugs on him, probably had just cause for stopping him. All the crimes going around Mason City police have their hands full in Mason City. You would think you be happy they are patrolling the streets. So glad don’t live there anymore, shows the IQ of some of the people who do wrong and play the victim. Let me guess, probably still lives at home with his parents and/or no job. Status quo anymore.

@Status-That would be Philosophus.
