KNOXVILLE – A southern Iowa police department got a much-needed donation of computer equipment today.
According to a statement, the Knoxville Police Department received seven Panasonic ToughBook computers that were donated by MidAmerican Energy. The department said it hopes to use these units to reduce the need for officers to go to the Police Station to complete reports.
“We also hope to use the computers to file citations and other paperwork with the Clerk of Courts Office as part of the electronic filing program that began earlier this month,” the department stated.
The department said it is “extremely grateful to MidAmerican Energy for the donation”, and thanked MidAmerican Energy employee Bruce Lefler for letting the Department know these computers were available and assisting with the application to get them.
