DCI investigates Council Bluffs officer-involved shooting

iowa dept of public safetyCOUNCIL BLUFFS – At approximately 5:53 PM, on March 14th, the Pottawattamie County 911 center received a call of a reckless driver in the area of North 8th Street and Avenue D in Council Bluffs.

A Council Bluffs Patrol Officer in the area observed the subject vehicle occupied by one male subject. The subject attempted to flee the area and the patrol officer located the subject a short time later in the area of North 17th Street and Avenue A in Council Bluffs, where a foot pursuit ensued. During the encounter with the subject, the patrol officer discharged his duty weapon one time, missing the subject. The subject was apprehended and transported to a local hospital with a medical condition that was not related to the discharge of the officer’s weapon.

At this time, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the officer-related shooting and the Council Bluffs Police Department is investigating the criminal acts of the subject. Possible charges are pending against the subject.
