MASON CITY – A Mason City boy decided that helping someone else would be the best birthday present of all.

Dean Perry wants to forgo birthday gifts for himself this year and is asking, instead, for donations to My Happy Place so that he can sponsor a bedroom makeover for a child in need.

The bedroom that Dean is hoping to sponsor is for another 5-year-old boy named Noah. Dean will present his earnings to My Happy Place and Noah’s parents at the Rolling For Rooms Fundraiser at the Best Western Inn on March 22nd.

Dean is taking his fundraising quite seriously and has even emptied his own piggy bank to ensure that Noah will receive his Happy Place.

Noah’s father, Justin, says “We have been very surprised and touched by the generosity of both My Happy Place and the little boy who is helping make our son’s room possible.”

To help Dean reach his goal, send him birthday cards with small donations (checks made payable to My Happy Place):

This is a great charity especially because it is local. I am attending their fundraiser and I urge everyone else to attend or donate.

Great story about this quality young man. His parents should be proud and commended for the great job of raising him with real values.
