Cyclone men face K-State Thursday at Big 12 Tourney

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (23-7, 11-7) opens postseason play as a #4 seed Thursday against #5 seed Kansas State (20-11, 10-8) at the Big 12 Championships. The Cyclones and Wildcats tip at 11:30 a.m. at the Sprint Center. ESPN2 will have the coverage.

The Cyclones are 1-3 in conference tournament play under the direction of Fred Hoiberg. The Cyclones won at least 10 conference games for the third-straight season, a first in program history.

Iowa State is led by Big 12 Player of the Year Melvin Ejim. He is the first Cyclone to earn the award since Jamaal Tinsley (2001). He is second in the conference averaging 18.2 points, up 6.9 ppg from last season.

Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, DeAndre Kane has scored 20+ points in four of the last five games and is averaging 21.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 5.2 assists in the last six games.

ISU’s seven wins against top-25 teams ties the school record set in 1999-2000. The Cyclones are 7-2 against the top-25 this season and have nine wins vs. the RPI top-50.
