Clear Lake officially home to new development project

CLEAR LAKE – Officials today confirmed that Clear Lake has been officially named as the new home to a Fortune 100 company and approximately 160 new jobs.

“We got word the company has given the affirmative approval to the capital expenditure,” Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory told NIT. “The work is now underway on site plan and building construction reviews. Hopefully they will start moving dirt in April. It will take about 18 months to build.”

The typ of work is said to be manufacturing. The identity of the company may not be released until construction on the project is nearly complete.

The company will bring 164 jobs to Clear Lake at average of $39,000/year, not including fringe benefits. Total payroll will be $6.5 million annually.

The project has a capital investment cost of $65 million to build and equip. The total anticipated tax base will be $19 million.

The project will be located in the Luker Memorial Industrial Park on Lots 6 & 7. The site is 39 acres. Currently it is farmed.
