INDIANAPOLIS – The Iowa men’s basketball team has hit the skids at the wrong time of year, slipping to a six seed in the 17th annual Big Ten tourney and now forced to play in the opening round.
The league announced the tourney brackets Sunday, with Iowa to face Northwestern in the first round. Michigan is the overall number one seed, with Wisconsin, Michigan State and Nebraska all getting first round byes.
If Iowa wins, it faces Michigan State in the second round.
Iowa finished the season with a 20-11 record overall, 9-9 in conference play.
