IOWA CITY – Iowa will have to beat a hungry Minnesota team in Minneapolis to avoid its first 2-game losing streak of the season.
Iowa (19-7, 8-5) is 6-0 following a loss this season. Minnesota (17-11, 6-9) is lead by Senior Andre Hollins with a 14.8 per game scoring average. He suck the Hawkeyes last year in The Barn with a 3 pointer in the closing second which won the game for the Gophers.
Minnesota will have plenty of motivation to beat the Hawkeyes, as their tenuous hopes of reaching the NCAA tournament would look brighter with a win over a ranked Iowa team also looking to get into the Big Dance. Iowa took a step back last weekend, losing to Wisconsin for the second time this season and relinquishing its hold on third place in the Big Ten.
Tuesday’s game in Minnesota is the first of 3 games in seven days for Iowa. Iowa will play a make-up game Thursday at Indiana before taking on Purdue Saturday at home.
