TUSCON, AZ – Three women – two from Arizona and one a Mexican national – were arrested last week for attempting to smuggle more than seven pounds of heroin through the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Ariz.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected a Jaguar sedan for further inspection and found six packages of heroin within a pair of suitcases. The vehicle and drugs were processed for seizure.
The three subjects are identified as Saniela Moncerratt Soloranzo-Flores, 20, Nogales, Ariz.; Ana Guadalupe Carrillo-Villa, 19, Tucson, Ariz.; and Silvia Santacruz, 25, a Mexican national/U.S. permanent resident of Nogales, Ariz. All three were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Individuals arrested may be charged by complaint, the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity, which raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
