MARSHALLTOWN – A Marshalltown was sentenced to 87 years in prison in connection with a man’s death during a botched drug deal.

Jeremy Gartin, age 30, was found guilty by a Cerro Gordo county jury of voluntary manslaughter, abuse of a corpse and carrying a concealed weapon in the Oct. 1 death of the 59-year-old Garwin man, according to the Marshalltown Times-Republican.  The jury deliberated about 4 hours.  Gartin was sentenced on February 3rd.  He will spend at least 20 years in jail.

That is my dad.

Omg what a sick individual. That’s all you get to shoot a person in the head ,dismember parts of the body and try to dispose of it in the trash? Totally ridiculous. He killed him intentionally and tried to cover up the crime… a drunk driver who kills someone gets more time. Shame on everyone who got this guy and his accomplice off.

Accident? Ridiculous. This was 1st degree murder. Who was the stupid prosecutor who believed this?
