MASON CITY – Taking drugs to the jail could prove to be a costly mistake for a Mason City woman.
Cerro Gordo deputies conducted a traffic stop at 2:20 AM Thursday morning at the corner of 6th Street SE and Delaware Avenue due to a violation. The driver, 37-year-old Heather Leigh Twaddle of Mason City, was arrested for driving while license suspended and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. During the course of the booking process, Twaddle was searched, and a controlled substance and other drug paraphernalia was discovered. She was charged with driving while suspended (simple misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor), two counts of felony D possession of contraband, and one count of felony D possession of a controlled substance.
Twaddle was released on her own recognizance and awaits an unknown court date.
