DES MOINES – Tim Dwight is as passionate about his business endeavors as he was on the gridiron.

The former Hawkeye receiver was in Des Moines this month, pitching his strategies to make Iowa a solar energy powerhouse.

Dwight brought his message to the Iowa Statehouse on Wednesday, January 5, meeting with State Senators Daryl Beall of Fort Dodge and Steve Sodders of State Center. His message is simple: To create jobs in Iowa, increase the production, development and use of solar energy.

Dwight told the legislators that he believes hundreds of jobs can be created by producing, installing and servicing solar energy panels across Iowa as the cost of solar falls dramatically.

“I met with Dwight as a member of a task force of legislators looking into ways to strengthen Iowa’s economy,” Senator Sodders said. “Other states have jump started their own solar economies by providing rebates to homeowners and others who install solar energy panels.”

Dwight, part owner of Integrated Power Corporations, has made stops all over the state in recent months, drumming up support for his solar ideas. In April of 2013, Dwight was in Mason City, where he put on display his knowledge of the technology as he talked of a future (somewhat already being realized in Germany) where people and structures use energy from renewable sources and efficiency is paramount.
