SIOUX CITY – A man who re-entered the United States illegally was sentenced on January 9, 2014, to time served.
Ramiro Pecina-Calixto, age 29, from Mexico, received the prison term after a December 2, 2013, guilty plea to one count of illegal re-entry.
At the guilty plea, Pecina-Calixto admitted he had re-entered the United States without permission after being removed from the country on May 12, 2005. Pecina-Calixto came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations’ (HIS) on October 9, 2013, after he was arrested for not having a driver’s license in O’Brien County, Iowa.
Pecina-Calixto was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Donald E. O’Brien. Pecina-Calixto was sentenced to time served.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and investigated by HSI and the Enforcement and Removal Office of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau.
So, how much time did he get… and then where did he go after time served. No drivers license, and for sure, no insurance. And people wonder why they are targeted by police.
