CLEAR LAKE – A Clear Lake man’s announcement Monday made him the third to announce a candidacy for Cerro Gordo County Supervisor.
Casey Callanan, a lifelong resident of Clear Lake who is a partner at First Insurance in Mason City, on Monday said he will file papers to seek the Republican nomination for the Cerro Gordo County Supervisor seat being vacated by Bob Amosson.
Callanan, a 1998 graduate of Clear Lake High School, said that he “enjoys working with people from all backgrounds” and has been involved in Republican politics on the state and federal level since Bill Clinton was President.
Callanan interned for State Representative Gary Blodgett as well as Congressman Jim Nussle. “My business experience and public service involvement have shown me how to continue providing needed services without increasing property tax rates”. The candidate is married to Hunter Schurtz Callanan who is employed at CL tel.
Both the Democratic and Republican party primaries will be held June 3rd. The filing period for county offices is March 3 through March 26, 2014 (5:00 p.m.). The general election is Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
Callanan joins Swaledale Mayor John Drury and Rockwell resident Adam Wedmore as candidates.
