Bad boys busted at “very large underage party” in Mason City

MASON CITY – A “very large underage party” was squashed Friday night by police in a quiet Mason City residential neighborhood.

Cerro Gordo county deputies and Mason City police converged on a residence located at 427 South Polk Place – near Mercy Hospital – Friday night at about 11:00 PM. At least five deputies were involved with the call, as well as ten Mason City police officers.

At least eleven people – many of them minors – were arrested and charged with misdemeanors.

A person who lives close to the house where the booze bash was held said this weekend that “cops are there often enough. Always some drama. This one was getting out of hand. It won’t be the last time they have to come over here.”

At the scene, the small house is set back farther from the street than the other surrounding homes. The snow in the front yard was trampled with what looked like dozens of footprints.

Police notified the landlord, JRM Investments of Clear Lake, of the nuisance.

Arrested, charged and released were: Tanner Mytchell Sundvold of Manly, Iowa; Aolani Lakiesha Green Harrington of Mason City; Rashell Lynn Davis of Mason City; Josie Alaya Odell of Mason City, Cassandra Jane Mewes of Forest City; Shaelynn Rae Coleman of Mason City; Joel Vincent Conrad of Mason City, and Jamison Nathaniel Odell of Mason City.

Blake Allan Perry of Mason City was also arrested at the scene. He is still in jail on possession of marijuana charge. A warrant had been issued for his arrest on January 2nd. He plead guilty to assault causing bodily injury last year.

Devin James Tahrel Chidester of Jennings, Iowa was arrested, as well, at the scene and is still in jail on possession of marijuana charge. A warrant had been issued for his arrest on January 9th.

A third wanted man was picked up at the scene, Jeremy Andrew Houdek of Mason City. He had been wanted since December 10, 2013 on a warrant related to a charge of second offense operating while intoxicated.

In that incident, according to Charles City police, on August 13, 2013, officers were called to the 200 block of Ferguson Street for an accident. Houdek was allegedly driving a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora at that location when he took evasive action to avoid a cat. Houdek struck a parked trailer owned by JEP Construction, causing about $2,500 in damage. His own vehicle was a total loss (about $5,000). He was placed under arrest and charged with OWI second offense, driving while suspended and no insurance. No court date has been set for him.
