CHARLES CITY – A trial date has been set for a Charles City man accused of felony burglary.
Court records show that 20-year-old Brandon Starkey will face a January 28th trial on felony b first degree burglary. A person commits burglary in the first degree if, while perpetrating a burglary in or upon an occupied structure in which one or more persons are present, the person has possession of a dangerous weapon or intentionally or recklessly inflicts bodily injury on any person.
Charles City police arrested Starkey on November 16, 2013 on the burglary charge as well as obstructing emergency communications after an investigation into an incident on November 15, 2013 that allegedly took place in the 1300 block of F Street. He posted an unknown cash bond amount on November 18th and was released from jail.
On January 2, 2014, a new charge of assault with intent to inflict bodily injury was added by the Floyd County Attorney, again stemming from the November 15, 2013 incident. He awaits a court arraignment on January 21st.
Starkey has plead not guilty.
