AMES, Iowa – DeAndre Kane put up one of the most complete performances in recent Iowa State history as the No. 9 Cyclones improved to 14-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12 with a 87-72 win over No. 7 Baylor at a sold out Hilton Coliseum Tuesday night. The Bears fell to 12-2 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 play.

Iowa State was able to sustain multiple long runs in the second half that slowly put the Bears out of the game. Baylor, who was down two points at the half, was able to take the lead at 42-40 early in the second half. Iowa State 15-6 run capped off by a Melvin Ejim lay-in to give the Cyclones a 57-48 lead.

The Cyclones began to take the lead into double figures before Baylor was able to get it back to single digits at 63-54 ISU on a Gary Franklin 3-pointer. With the Bears still trailing by nine, Iowa State put the game out of BU’s reach with an 8-0 run via buckets from Monte Morris, Georges Niang, Dustin Hogue and DeAndre Kane to put ISU up 17 and away from the Bears for good.

Baylor controlled proceedings for a good chunk of the first half, but on the back of Kane’s 17 first-half points was able to get up by as many as seven points late on in the first half before the Bears fired off a quick 5-0 run to get into halftime only down 40-38.
