Swaledale man in jail after leading police on pursuit, smashing 4 patrol cars

ELDORA – A Swaledale man lead police on a dangerous chase Saturday morning near Thornton, Iowa, before his car was disabled and he was arrested.

The Iowa State Patrol was in pursuit of 33-year-old Todd Hambly of Swaledale Saturday morning at about 10:20 AM as a Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputy joined the chase, near Lark Avenue several miles east of Thornton.

Hambly kickin’ back, via his public Facebook page.

Hambly – a convicted felon – refused to go quietly, and according to Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals, his deputy’s patrol car received serious damage and four Iowa State Patrol cars were “wrecked” as officers tried to stop Hambly. His vehicle eventually ended up off the roadway in a snowbank. No injuries were reported in the pursuit.

Hambly was charged with eluding, assault on a peace officer and possession of methamphetamine.

Hambly is being held in the Hardin County Jail in Eldora at this time, records show.

Hambly was accused several times in 2013 of felony theft in the counties of Cerro Gordo, Grundy and Butler and was convicted twice. He is still awaiting a trial this month in Cerro Gordo County on felony d burglary.

Guess you should have stopped.

Caining boys, caining. This meth-head needs to serve some hard time along with some caining.

I don’t care if he uses it or sells it, he is another freak meth-head.

To me he is just a worthless piece of sh*t.

@Watchdog-There sure seems to be a lot of these P.O.S.’s around. It is the easy money from drugs. They don’t have to work and they know the judges will probably turn them loose anyway.

He was in violation of his parole. Out on bond also. this wasnt just a traffic violation. He is also wanted by several buissines’s for taking things. Cant believe peaple defend BAD behavior and not the cops. These men put themselves in harms way to protect us and our property.

Who’s defending his behavior? There are three sides to every story, the defendants, the cops and the truth.

Just because he was found with method does not make him a methhead… you breath air does that make you a airhead!!! LOL

Artile did not say he his car had contact with any of the state patrol vehicles – did they lose control of them while in highhh speed pursuit ?

Why was he being pulled over to begin with? According to the MC active warrants he has none.
Unless there was a probable cause to pull him over to begin with other than just because he’s a felon and has been in trouble with the law before is bogus in my opinion.

From the article it sounds to me like he was trying to kill the law officers. Wrecking 4 patrol cars in pursuit is excessive, even if they were in pursuit.

I can see an attempted murder charge here. Meth head or not, he needs to do some serious time.

That chase happened right next to my old house. Glad I moved away from methdale.

He gets the right judge they will let him walk

Yep-another meth head. They walk among us.
