Felon is singing the blues for pawning stolen guitar

MASON CITY – A convicted Mason City felon is in jail for allegedly pawning a stolen guitar.

Ronald Benjamin Bakkum, age 46, is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time, charged with felony D second degree theft.

According to police, Bakkum is accused of pawning a stolen guitar at a pawn shop. The guitar was stolen from a Mason City residence shortly before December 1, 2013.

“The value of the guitar was over $1000 so he was charged with 2nd Degree Theft,” officer Mike McKelvey explained Monday. “The 2nd Degree Theft charge includes exercising control over property which a reasonable person should / would know to be stolen.”

Bakkum plead guilty to felony D forgery in 2010 and still owes Iowa courts hundreds of dollars in costs and charges, although Judge Colleen Weiland was kind enough to dismiss a $750.00 fine.

You know LVS,..ya gotta get a life. Maybe try college..that would be a laugh. Perhaps move outta mummies house. That would be a start for ya. You’re comments are pathetic at best>

Rocko-You are a real space case. I have not lived with my mother for 55 years. Your post are the most infantile on here. Do you really pay to look that bad?

Philosophus will be upset over this..

I make guitars old chap. He can steal mine anytime. I’m insured.

Heck Pete, donate one to him! What do you have to lose!

How about the Sheriff’s department hires me to teach lockups how to build guitars? In fact, they can work for me at prison labor rates: 30 cents an hour sounds fair. Kevin can build a nice workshop out there at the law enforcement complex and I’ll tell them what to order to equip it. Sounds like a plan.

Easy for you to say. You have one of your guitars stolen and your MOM’S house insurance goes up, not yours.

Actually Mr. Dumas’, I have my own renters insurance which covers my land and my belongings wherever I am. (Doo-Moss is the correct pronunciation on your name is it not?)

Renters insurance. Well color me impressed. Is THIS the year you get a paper route too! Maybe that is too much to ask. How about we just work on the name calling first.

Just curious, did your mother have her house inspected and approved for rental property? Since you are handicapped, does she collect money from HUD since you are supposedly “renting” from her?
