NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 14 Iowa State women’s basketball team (13-0, 2-0 Big 12) remained undefeated this afternoon, downing No. 25 Oklahoma (10-5, 1-1 Big 12) 82-75. The win marks the Cyclones’ best start in program history and gives the team a program-best 13-game winning streak.
The Cyclones and Sooners traded leads throughout the first half, but key buckets from Kidd Blaskowsky and Jadda Buckley gave Iowa State a 32-30 lead entering halftime. The game was a back-and-forth battle, with 10 ties and 11 lead changes.
In the second half, the Cyclones led by as many as 10 with 6 minutes and 19 seconds left in the game, but the Sooners went on a 13-1 run to take a 65-62 lead on baskets from Aaryn Ellenberg and Morgan Hook. Nikki Moody hit two big free throws at the end of the second half to send the game into overtime.
Jadda Buckley stole the show, scoring 22 of her 29 points in the second half and overtime. The Cyclones used six free throws in overtime to ice the victory. Hallie Christofferson added 23 points of her own to go with five rebounds. Nikki Moody notched her seventh double-digit scoring effort of the season, tallying 13 points.
Jadda Buckley was on fire in today’s contest, torching the nets on 9-for-10 from the field, including 6-for-7 from beyond the arc. Buckley hit shots when it mattered most and recorded a career-high 29 points on the night. The Mason City, Iowa, native added three assists and four rebounds in the Cyclone effort.
