MASON CITY – The man who calls himself the mayor of Mason City, Eric Bookmeyer, once declared that the “perceived” crime problem in town was solved when his city council warned a bar to shape up.
Those who are actually in touch with reality might have a different take on the situation.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies teamed with the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force and the Mason City Police Department braved bitterly cold temperatures to execute a search warrant at 777 South Eisenhower Ave. Lot 321 in Mason City on Sunday morning at about 1:10 AM.
During the execution of the search warrant, a large amount ice methamphetamine, marijuana, along with a large sum of money and numerous firearms were seized.
Michael Allen Jones, age 28, of Mason City was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Class B Felony; Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, a class D felony; Possession of a Firearm as a convicted Felon, a class D felony; Two counts of Drug Tax Stamp Violations, both class D felony’s; Possession of a stolen Firearm, an aggravated misdemeanor; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Brittney Lee Jackson, age 23, of Mason City was charged with possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
Both Jones and Jackson were transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and held on bond. Jackson bonded out and was released.
The case is still under investigation.
the mcpd was alerted about this guy back in aug.2013 at a durg house(1514 n madison av) on the north side …… guess they had to have another drink and think of how to get there cut because they watch this house everyday but do nothing, this place is like having a drive up window for drugs a slow day is at least 15 cars

My thought is: Why care even if it is a “drug house”? I’d call most nursing homes these days major “drug houses”. Check in a lot of people’s medicine cabinets…you’ll find plenty of drugs there also.
If you have probable cause to believe a crime is being committed then by all means enter the home and apprehend the suspects. But if the only crime is that people are “doing drugs”…I’d say you need to re-evaluate the definition of what the word crime means. Read up on Philosophy of Criminal Justice, Ethics of Law, Golden Rules…
To be considered a crime, there needs to be a victim. burglary, theft, murder, rape, molestation…these are crimes. Putting something into one’s own body isn’t a crime in and of itself. It’s just that modern propaganda has designated this practice a crime, and it is the source of a whole lotta waste of tax dollars, and people’s lives down the drain becoming prosecuted.
If these “druggers” break into a home…apprehend them, and put them away for a long time, not 60 days in BEJE Clark. If they rob a bank put them away even longer. If you allege their drug use is causing crime (which it’s not), then put them away real good when they actually do commit a crime…but for all those who are able to use drugs and not commit crimes…leave them alone…You have no business concerning yourself what they put into their bodies.
If someone wants to crush up a dried cat turd and inhale it up their nose…would you consider that a crime? None of your business. Like I said: Re-evaluate your definition of the word “crime”…because you need a serious updating.
It is a crime because it is taking an illegal substance (which has NO REDEEMING value in todays society) and either selling it and or ingesting it. Too hard for you to understand?

They will never win the war on drugs, not here or anywhere. They can put people away all they want but its still going to be here. Have you noticed how many young kids are hooked/ put in these jails for drugs, they are just starting. Closing ONE bar is NOT solving anything nor will it ever. Iowa has a real big problem and Authorities know it, putting people away because of Marijuana use is ridiculous and a waste of time. I would love nothing more to get drugs off the streets but it wont happen, I continue to watch a few of my siblings fry their brains because of a lack of ‘give a shit’ system
@Common Sense-what you say makes sense. Drug abuse has been around for thousands of years in one form or another. However, I do not think condoning it will help control it. All these states are looking at is the money they will generate. I guess if they can’t control it they might as well make money off it. They will do to it just like they did to alcohol and tobacco. First they legalize it and then they kill it with regulations. I guess it is better than fighting a unwinnable war with all the costs that go with that. I think they will find that crime escalates at a much higher rate. The stuff is not cheap so the people without money will steal or anything else to get their fix.

Getting rid of guns and drugs are a pipe dream and prohibition only makes it more profitable. Drug sellers and police are same side.
What has 40 years of drug prohibition brought us? More cheaper drugs and a police state. We can’t even keep drugs out of prison. Stop this drug war and regulate drugs and treat it as a health issue instead of a crime issue
So what you are proposing to us is to make all drugs legal. What about murder? Rape? Identity Theft? Speeding? Assault?
Make it legal and regulate it? Making it legal takes away any consequences for bad behavior. Is that a society you want, where everyone does what they want, when they want, and to whom they want? Without consequences, you have anarchy and mayhem.
My suggestion is, move to S. Sudan and try your experiment there. Let us know how it all turns out, if you survive even a few months.

Yep-NO drug problems here in River City. Our mayor (the drunk) said so. You people elected them or stayed home and didn’t vote and this is what you get. Of course this just shows the cops are not doing their job and looking the other way so a drug pusher can sell to your kids.
