Snowmobilers chased through city streets by police, one caught

MASON CITY – Two subjects lead Mason City police on a chase through the city Thursday before one was caught.

According to police, on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at approximately 2:50 AM, Mason City police officers pursued a stolen snowmobile throughout the streets of Mason City. The driver, Marlin Lee Jensen, age 51 of Rockwell, Iowa was apprehended and arrested in the 600 block of S. Massachusetts and the snowmobile was recovered.

During the pursuit, officers could hear a second snowmobile nearby and believed both were together before the pursuit.

Officers later learned that a second snowmobile had been stolen along with the one recovered in Thursday morning’s pursuit. Both snowmobiles were stolen on December 14th 2013, in Clay County near Spencer, Iowa.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Mason City police believe the second stolen snowmobile is still in the Mason City area and are asking for public’s help in locating it.

The snowmobile is described as a Black 1999 Arctic Cat ZRT 600. VIN# 9923159.

One of them lives in the 600 block of S. Washington. Likes to use alleys south of him, then onto the RR.

@observer-at least he is using the alley’s. Up here they are running right down the streets and in the parks. They are tearing the hell out of Monroe Park and the baseball diamonds.

He probably belongs to the group of thieves which one of them lives on B-20

They are running these machines all over. They have been in Monroe Park and the Hoover School yard many times. They run them on the yards and you can not see them at the crossings. It is just a matter of time until someone gets killed on one.

Snow conditions are really low- prolly need a new set of carbides after that ride. Better take a peek at the hy-fax too. Just sayin
