MARSHALLTOWN – The No. 1 NIACC women’s basketball team returns to ICCAC action Saturday against Marshalltown Community College.
Game time is set for 1 p.m.
NIACC (13-1 overall, 2-0 in the ICCAC) placed third at the Illinois Central Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-30. The Lady Trojans topped No. 19 Kankakee Community College (98-64), dropped an 82-81 decision to No. 6 Illinois Central and stopped No. 7 Kishwaukee Community College 77-66 in the consolation game.
NIACC owns conference wins over DMACC (97-68) and No. 2 Kirkwood (115-111 in overtime).
Sophomore guard Chelsey Jacox (Plymouth, Minn.) averages 21.9 points per game to lead the Lady Trojans. Freshman Cortni Rush (Mason City, Ia.) is next in line averaging 18.2 points per game.
Marshalltown (10-2, 1-1) fell to Iowa Central (113-70) on Dec. 14 in its final contest before the holiday break.
Freshman guard Jasmin Howe (Millicent, Australia) averages 16.4 points per game to lead the Tigers. Also for the Tigers, sophomore forward Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, Ia.) averages 15.3 points per game.
