MASON CITY – The NIACC baseball team is ranked fifth in the NJCAA Division II poll released by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the Voice of Amateur Baseball Since 1958.
NIACC was 31-18 a year ago and placed fifth in its first-ever appearance at the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Okla.
NIACC returns two starters (infielder Brett Guba and outfielder Jake Adams) and one starting pitcher (Nick Veale) from last year’s team.
NIACC opens its 2014 season on Feb. 14 at the Flag City Classic in Millington, Tenn.
DMACC is ranked 11th in the preseason poll and defending national champion Murray State of Oklahoma is ranked No. 1.
