IOWA CITY – Iowa’s fall from grace in football may be very short-lived indeed.
After a disappointing 4-8 season in 2012, Iowa came back with a solid 8-4 campaign, won several rivalry game trophies – including a long-awaiting win against Nebraska – secured a New Year’s bowl game, and now is landing a few highly-rated recruits.
Iowa secured a commitment from its second 4-star quarterback this month when Tyler Wiegers announced on Twitter that he had selected the Hawkeyes. Wiegers is a senior at Country Day High School in Detroit, Michigan. He was previously committed to Rutgers, but reports stated Weigers wanted out after reports of bullying at the school surfaced.
Weigers joins junior Jack Beneventi, the #9 rated quarterback in the 2015 class, from Chicago suburb Glen Ellyn, Ill. Beneventi tweeted a “Congrats” to Wiegers “on his commitment to University of Iowa” on Friday.
