MASON CITY – NIACC freshman Cortni Rush has been selected as the ICCAC women’s basketball offensive player of the week.
Rush (Mason City, Ia.) scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in No. 2 NIACC’s 115-111 overtime victory over top-ranked Kirkwood on Saturday in the NIACC gym. She also had two assists and two steals against the Eagles.
Rush was 10 of 23 from the field (3 of 8 from 3-point range) and was 5 of 7 from the free-throw line in the Lady Trojans’ lone game last week.
Rush, a 5-foot-10 guard, averages 19.3 points per game (3rd in the ICCAC) for the Lady Trojans (11-0 overall, 2-0 in the ICCAC). She averages 8.2 rebounds per game (4th in the ICCAC) and also has 39 assists, 36 steals and 31 3-point goals.
NIACC returns to action Dec. 28-30 at the Illinois Central Cougar Holiday tournament in Peoria, Ill. The Lady Trojans face No. 20 Kankakee Community College at 6 p.m. on Dec. 28 in their first-round contest.
Marshalltown Community College sophomore Mackenzie Gott was selected as the ICCAC women’s basketball defensive player of the week and Iowa Lakes’ sophomore Deondre Parks was selected as the ICCAC men’s player of the week.
